Blocked off the road on both sides. The ginell was locked off. We were walking up from Joe's shop just ahead of the scruffy cunts when they veered off into the estate towards the ground, with coppers all over them. Could hear City loud and proud ahead of us, which is probably why they turned left, in search of singletons and easy targets.

They'd have shit themselves at the welcoming committee at the Townley. Plenty of numbers and old heads around, such a shame they couldn't make it. Too busy taking selfies and moody images in the mean streets of Ancoats.

Yeah think after what happened last season, loads turned out at the Townley this time expecting them to try it again, loads of old school blues there.
 
I've been in the away end at United, Everton and Newcastle and to be honest, you're a fool if you cheer the City goal. As hard as it is, you sit on your hands at least. If you jump up, you're just going to draw attention to yourself and give the stewards a problem.

I know we get more tourists in the games, but surely it's a common thing that if you go to - say - AC v Inter and you sit in the AC end you don't cheer an Inter goal? It's surely common sense. As much as I don't want to see trouble, if you do it you're thick as pig shit and inviting it.

I don't know what the answer is, but I do think if we sell tickets to non-ST holders we can at least make them aware it's "not the done thing" to cheer an away teams goal.

I was also in the K stand that day and, like you, when Bob smashed it in, i lost my head for a few moments and jumped up screaming.
It was a stupid, stupid, thing to do and i should have expected a few slaps at least. Luckily, (very luckily), I had two things in my favour.
1) I was sat in the middle of my two mates (united fans who'd got me my ticket) so had nobody immediately next to me. And
2) whilst a couple of lads behind me had plenty to say, and possibly would have given me a well-deserved few digs, I have to say that a LOT of united fans in the area realised i was just a giddy young lad who forgot where he was for a moment and calmed them down. A few minutes later when it had all calmed down, one bloke sat just behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said "dont worry Son, we've all done it. Just keep your head down for the rest of the game and get straight away at full time".
Ive never forgotten that and, whilst i hate united as much as anyone, i do sometimes think of those lads surrounding me and keeping me safe when i lost my head for a second and wonder what might have happened if i hadnt been so lucky.

Nice take on WSS, Ms, S., but by implication does this mean that it's ok for a loyal Sky Blue lad or lass to fall for one of the raggy lot over at O.T. ?

Or sell non-ST tickets to Cityzens with plenty of points.

They then made their way back down the ginel, through the other side of the housing estate, and attacked City fans at the Corner Shop pub.

Apprently GMP boxed off all the roads and routes around the Townley to stop the Mibs getting to the Townley again. By the time I got to the South stand their numbers were down to a handful who had been boxed in by GMP opposite the South stand.

Are you sure this is the same lot? Usually the reds who attack the townley and corner shop are locals wouldnt make sense for them to go to ancoats

If they weren't there would have been 2 United firms trying to get to the Townley. They weren't going to go the same way as last season. I could have followed them but I wanted to finish my pint off. :-) They were never going to get to the Townley unnoticed. As soon as they left 7 Brothers GMP officers were trying to catch up with them.

Embarrassing. Barely a brain cell between them.
 
The laughable rags would've been very welcome at The Townley.

City had a very good and big team of lads there ....a mix of older heads who've done their time and younger, fit athletes all of whom were very ready to give the motleys a real spanking.
