True Legends

Old era;

Trautmann
Lee
Bell
Summerbee
Doherty

Later era;

Aguero
Silva
Kinkladze
Kompany

A legend can mean didn't things to different people? To have the likes of dickov and Morrison said in the same breath as kompany and zabaletta is ludicrous.
Although the likes of silva and yaya have been immense for us, I wouldn't class them as legends. I think joe hart is up there.

When we won the league in 2012, legends such as book and summerbee were there to present the trophy. Could you see silva and yaya doing that in another 40 years if we went on a bad run? I couldn't
I think I need to lie down!!!

I got pilloried on here for suggesting Richard Edghill isn't a legend (having had the genuine pleasure of his company at the 'Legends Lounge') and you come out with a statement like that.

Yep, a lie down is definitely in order.

are you joking?
I absolutely am not joking. Going through this thread I can see a lot more votes for aguero and silva than young and Doyle. I am only questioning because I am curious how you more experienced fans equate and rank the great players from both eras. If you also think think those two 60s/70s legends are better than the two more modern legends than you might well be right.

I'm sure we have lots of legends pre when I started going in 76 with the obvious names form 67-70.

For me these players will live in my memory forever.

Hart
Zabaleta
Kompany
Toure
Silva
Aguero

That's it.

Some memorable players in between including the likes of Lake, Kinkladze, Goater and Morrison

Define "better"

Of course Yaya should be recognised as one of the most important players in recent history. Getting pissy because some don't regard him as a legend is daft though. We all have our own definitions as to what makes somebody legendary and for me, allowing the club to be dragged through the gutterpress on several occasions tarnishes his status.
