Trust in politicians

I am sure there are some politicians out there who are in the job for the right reasons and can be trusted.. However, they don't last long, they either tow the career politician fuck the public line or they are replaced.. So that said, in a word.. NO we cant trust politicians.
I trust Pellegrini will come good for City though!

For me personally it's gone. No trust in any one of them. I don't get the heated arguments on here between the left and right as not one of them holds the moral high ground where politics are concerned.

I just get on with my life and pay no heed to any of them. I used to be really into my politics, but over the last 15-20 years it's gone. I stopped watching Question Time and the Sunday morning stuff as the politicians are all just the same - once elected they just become greedy, self interested twats. Not one of them has a personality, and you can see the media training kick in every time they're asked a question. Not to be trusted.

I've always put my trust in Methodist Ministers who are former Labour councillors. They get the best crystal meth on the market.

and £75,000 in fraudulent expenses and a jobs with the labour party and then get to become the head of a once great but now broken institution.

But back to the thread. Simple answer NO you cant trust them.
10 years ago we did not have all these Commons Select committees pretending to look into hacking/police/government spying/banks etc etc. But then they had the gravy train of expenses. That got stopped so they all invented committees to rip us off for more money.
They disgust me full stop.

None at all, they fleece the public's money bleating they are entitled when other public service workers get nothing. They toe the party line and vote for things they know the public dont want so they dont represent the people who voted them in.most seem totally self serving
Seems you cant trust the police or anyone in authority, depressing really

It is very lazy in my opinion to think of them as all untrustworthy. Not only is it lazy i think its unfair although i do understand why people think thus.

Personally i doubt many are in it for the money although the expenses scandal sure makes it look that way. If they were paid properly and expenses were stopped it would be fairer. Yes they have perks, but doesnt everyone who works have little "perks of the job"

I do think there are honourable people on all sides and in all parties from Jacob Rees Mogg in the Tories, Steve Rotherham for Labour to my own MP Mark Hunter for the Lib Dems who although i think is a **** personally is actually a very good constituency MP.

Democracy in the UK is going through worrying times and the more distrust and related apathy that abounds the greater the injustices will become. The only people who can change politics for the good are the electorate, not the politicians.

I wouldn't say I distrust them all, certainly some of them.

The bigger issue for me is how out of touch they are. Every single one of them. Having spent a lot of time around MPs and their aides from various parties I can honestly say they're all as out of touch as each other - they live in a bubble, it's mind-boggling.

A few weeks ago I had a discussion with an MP and one of his cheerleaders about their pay rises and he trotted out the stock responses we're all used to by now. He was telling me all about how hard he works etc. I know people on minimum wage jobs that work a damn sight harder than he does and they earn probably one quarter of the £65,000+ plus expenses he picks up annually. The argument that "we work harder than anyone else" they trot out is arrogant and redundant.

MPs are unfairly criticised in many cases, but the simple fact is I don't think I've met a single MP that has a clue what it's like to live in the real world. They're so out of touch it's unbelievable. And that's why confidence and trust is so low in all of them.
