Trust in politicians

The voting system is so outdated now the Democratic process needs one big major overhaul with Technology at the front of it.

My local vote takes place in a Meth' Church... I mean there's many non-christians,Muslims,Jews everything where I live yet to vote you gotta go into a Church (after going down to the unwelcoming Town hall and actually registering to vote)

More people are probably registered on Facebook than are registered to vote.

Some non-profit way which isn't ran by a company needs to form with the ability to vote on this network.

We do not have a freedom of speech either...if I went out on the street right now in town and started a protest I'd be arrested and probably battered with a truncheon.

Fuck the police. Fuck the outdated Govt.

They've given us absolutely no reason to trust them. The opposite in fact. I don't see why anyone would.

If they were a girlfriend you'd of fucked them off long ago. Lying, cheating bastards

It is very lazy in my opinion to think of them as all untrustworthy. Not only is it lazy i think its unfair although i do understand why people think thus.

Personally i doubt many are in it for the money although the expenses scandal sure makes it look that way. If they were paid properly and expenses were stopped it would be fairer. Yes they have perks, but doesnt everyone who works have little "perks of the job"

I do think there are honourable people on all sides and in all parties from Jacob Rees Mogg in the Tories, Steve Rotherham for Labour to my own MP Mark Hunter for the Lib Dems who although i think is a **** personally is actually a very good constituency MP.

Democracy in the UK is going through worrying times and the more distrust and related apathy that abounds the greater the injustices will become. The only people who can change politics for the good are the electorate, not the politicians.

Ok so they are not all bent, how about bone idle ? My step son and I had a problem. I e mailed my MP, his lacky merely replied he couldn't help as my step son lived in another district. I found out who this was (he didn't bother telling me) I rang both the constituency phone number and the Houses of Parliaments number, both provided by the web site. Both were on ansaphone and neither ever replied. So I e mailed only to receive a message back saying basically not know at this address. I tried my MP again to ask if he could contact him only to be told NO.
Sorry Rascal but I have no faith or trust in our MP's they are self serving, money grabbing wankers - bar the odd one but I have not met this small band of people, nor seen them on TV or heard them on the radio.
Yes the expenses scandal damaged them badly but they have done nothing to rectify it.

Putting the word trust in the same phrase as the word politician is a serious mistake to make. We have seen over the last forty years that they are amongst the most untrustworthy groups in society. I would be interested to know which group, on a percentage basis, has ripped off the taxpayer more - MPs or benefit cheats! Would you buy a second hand car from one of them? Would you take what they said at face value? If they ever gave you the time of day would you not hurry to check it at the next clock you passed?

They have developed the notion of 'self-serving' into fine art.

They enter politics, particularly at Westminster, because they know it's a gravy train!

I wouldn't trust them as far as I could kick The Etihad!

I wouldn't trust a single one of them. Self serving greedy cunts who are only interested in furthering their own careers are getting their snouts into another trough.
We used to have some trustworthy politicians(Dennis Skinner, Tony Benn) but the media dismiss them as loonies.

Sorry mate but Skinner is a complete fruit, I dare say he is trustworthy though, as for Tony, he called his son Hilary but aside from that he's ok.

I would say Frank Field is trustworthy, which is why Labour did not give him a prolonged stint on the front benches.

The rest can all fook off whatever party they are from

I was involved in numerous meetings earlier this year with my MP and he was a total fucking waste of space. He is inept and politically impotent (that's impotent, not important). He's shit scared of the County Council
The reason I started this thread was because something Cameron said in a BBC interview about localism, local people making decisions on local issues as they know much better than the man in Whitehall
Well the local people/County Council planners made a decision and it has been overruled by the man in Whitehall

It sounds stupid, but I took it personally what Blair said about WMD's. I honestly thought after standing in front of Parliament and stating what he did, if he was wrong he would be tried

I look at the options for the next election, Cameron and Osbourne or Milliband and Balls. It's like choosing which eye you'd rather have needles stuck into

I will however be voting on local issues and our current useless tory MP, who is in a marginal constituency, only needs a swing of 500 and he's out

Agree with the majority of the sentiments expressed so far. I have no respect for Parliament and its machinations. I'm sure there are some principled souls in there somewhere however I just don't see how we can trust any of them when corruption is/was rife amongst their members. Cash for questions, scratch-my-back-I'll-scratch-yours deals, money for honours, expenses.

An absolute den of iniquity that needs overhauled. However, will never happen due to vested interests in a system that rewards the dishonest.
