Turning Point

Every game is turning point according to the doom mongers. And they are all point downwards.

Yet we are 5th with a game in hand!

Im not a doom monger as you put it...I actually posted after the liverpool game that fpr the first time I could see prorgress ont he attacking front under mancini and his tactics for the stoke game in my mind were goo....we weer comfortable against them and ceating one or two chances even before and after they socred...te turning point was the unjust sending of of Ade.....

However my fear is that Mancini after the chelski game today (where if he plays defensively Ill understand that) is that he will continue in his overall trend of negative tactics....which will cos us very improtant games against the likes of Villa and spurs especially

oh and the game in hand is worth nothing if results carry on the way they are ( for us and our rivals)!!!

You were happy with the tactics and performances against Liverpool and Stoke - me too. But you find the overall trend in tactics negative. This is confusing. If you try and work our whether Mancini is a good tactician / manager on a match by match basis this is the result.

Win a game: "Genius" Lose: "Sack him"

the moment it went wrong was the sacking of MH

Oh for the days when we couldn't beat Hull, Fulham or.Burnley at home, even from winning positions.

or how about a certain comment made in america?

the sacking of MH was before cook said what he said

the sacking of MH is where it went wrong......it caused unrest with certain players, it caused a change in management style which again caused unrest and it caused a change in tactics whih has led to poor performances....i also believe that if we had had MH in chagre for the CC semi we would have beated utd.....at 2-1 in the first leg, MH would have gone for it...he would hav pushed the team to get a thrid or even fourth goal with 20 odd mins left on the clock becaue he knows all too well that going to OT with a 2-1 lead is in reality going with no lead at all.....however Mancini made defensive substitutiotns and sat back......nearly costing us the first game and definately costing us the tie.

you can see it with the players when they are on the pitch that they are not happy with teh system or the tactics that they are being made to play in.

Under Hughes we never came close to beating United so not sure how you come to the conclusion that we'd have beaten them over two legs in the semi if we had Hughes. You point out that Hughes would have gone for the 3rd or 4th goal in the first leg with 20 minutes left but footballs not always that easy. We sat back and tried to get them on the counter but you also have to understand United pinned us back because they knew they needed to push forward and try and get a goal, you can't just say attack and start pushing men forward if we've not got possession of the ball which we didn't have for long periods of the last 20 minutes of the first leg

Yes we've lost more games in all competitions under Mancini than Hughes but what about the draws? Everytime you draw you drop 2 points and Hughes drew too many games, you can't judge a manager on how many times they lose through the whole season, you've got to look at the whole picture and take into account wins, draws and losses. We're not playing great at the moment but since Mancini came in our leauge results have improved and we're closer to 4th than we were when he took over

There have been no turning points as such from day one this season.

We are 12-10-4 to date and progressed further in both domestic cups than we did last season.

Managers come and go admittedly far too often for any City supporter for too many years but its fair to say unless there was some reason outside on field results under MH then two defeats in 17 premier league games gives us some indication as to what the owners expect now from anybody that takes the managerial reigns at City and its fair to say Mancini will be no exception.

What the owners and Cook and Co need to understand is that to chop and change too frequently will result in unnecessary uncertainty amongst the playing squad and put more pressure on all to hit the heights from day one which more than likely will mean inferior performances and results than would be otherwise.

If they do not understand that then they will be next to be removed from the "project".

The turning point was not sacking Hughes on Dec 21st 2008 after our 2-1 away defeat at The Hawthorns.

Yea I agree with the principle. Those saying that the mistake was sacking Hughes are wrong. The only mistake in sacking Hughes was that we didn't sack him a lot sooner

cost us this whole season imo, we should have pissed top4 this year and would have done with a decent manager at the helm sooner.

it irks me that when ADUG took over the man at the helm of MCFC, Garry Cook, was a man learning his trade at a football club who thought backing "The brightest English young manager" was the way forward and sold that into Khaldoon and The Sheikh.
