TV Series

Anyone mentioned Devs? Sci-fi thriller directed by the guy who did Ex Machina. It's a solid 9 on the menacing-out-of-ten scale.

Fucking not.

Acting poor
Directing poor
Inaccurate including key facts especially tactics used..

Wasted opportunity

Just finished the series – and have to agree!
I read a comment by our own Dr. Gary James on Twitter that mentioned it wasn't historically accurate... and fook me, he wasn't wrong – the cup final at the end was based on the final that Blackburn Olympic won - the game Suter played in Blackburn lost 1-0 to the Old Etonians... prior to that, Jimmy Love didn't follow Suter to Blackburn, he stayed at Darwen for another year and his career fizzled out - he ended up joining the Royal Marines.

That's not to say I didn't actually enjoy the series – Naimh Walsh was certainly worth watching, and I kept asking myself if Julian Fellowes is a blue, because there were a lot of parallels between the situation of Darwen/Blackburn and ours now... having to spend to compete with an 'entitled' establishment etc.

Just finished the first series of the Mandalorean (sp). First couple of episodes were ok, like revisiting the original Star Wars film after episode 3 it went down hill and when Bill Burr had a starring role in episode 6 it lost all interest for me. I won't be watching series 2 it's ok for kids I suppose

Finding it really difficult to pick and actually stick with something at the minute, outside of my usual fall backs.

Better call Saul is outstanding and it’s a shame the current season is almost ended. Tuesdays release was just fucking excellent. It’s a masterpiece of writing and acted brilliantly.

Bosch is also excellent tv. Season 6 about to land in a week or so and I can’t fucking wait. Those 2 at the moment are head and shoulders above anything else.

Other than that I’m stumped. Started watching Mindhunter, which I think is okay, but I’ve read into the upcoming work around the series and learned it’s been put on ice because the producer is working on other things. That bothers me. It’s a half arsed commitment and based on that I’ve decided to leave it despite enjoying the first 3 episodes.

So, any suggestions would be great. As good as the streaming platforms are today, and I use all 3, you get a fucking headache trying to find something half decent.

Last episode is a good example of the below. The shoot out scene in the desert was brilliantly scripted but the acting, in particular Odenkirk, was just phenomenal. We know he will survive, and that just makes it harder for him to act it as well as he did. The consequent trek through the desert is a real cliffhanger.
halfway through the 4th season of Better call Saul....whichever twat told me this was better than Breaking bad clearly stitched me up....got to see it through now though....

It’s slow. Much slower than breaking bad. No doubt.

But the writing is brilliant. The acting outstanding. It’s a series you’ve got really focus on. There is a lot of detail within it despite the slow burning.

I wasn’t sure they’d pull it off, on the face of it the story never seemed like it would work after breaking bad.

Horses for courses. It’s been critically acclaimed in each season and non have fell below 95% I think.

It’s worth the perseverance, as long as you give it your undivided attention.

Onto series 3 of Black Lightning. 1st 2 I really enjoyed but, as usual with Netflix, the 3rd series is bang average.
Also watching Locke & Key. Excellent

Black lightning isn't a netflix show, it is a CW one Netflix only have the UK broadcast rights

I’m starting to think that having amazon prime instead of Netflix is a mistake.

Got both share the costs with my parents and we use the same log on.

Prime is poorer but for series like bosch, sneaky pete and into the badlands I kept.it going, but I do struggle to find stuff to watch on it at times

I alo have my kodi, mobdro and disney+ watched through the firestick
