TV Series

Fantastic writing which is my default go-to.
There are shows which are brilliantly written but let down because the cast just doesn’t have the ability or the chops
Derry Girls is ace because the largely untrained main cast are fantastic.
In fact the young girls are more convincing than the pros who have been in the game for decades

The acting is a joy mate. The dark haired mouthy one in particular :)

The Tourist BBC1
this is a joint BBC and Australian ‘Fargoesque’ thriller.
Was expecting very little but it was very good. Starring Jamie Dornan, it’s six episodes long, has plenty twists and turns and good pace from first minute. Also some scenes of extreme violence.
Impressed.

This series is probably not the sort that you mean but I have just discovered 'Winter Walks' on BBC4 apparently it was on BBC2 and is now being repeated on 4. Just looking at the views and remembering some of the same or similar walks when I was able is so calming. The contributors/walkers don't say a lot, just enough, and allow the viewer to just lose themselves in the peaceful scenery and non-intrusive words pop up now and again, with Grid references and one sentence or even just a couple of words about the high points. I record it and watch it when I get up in the morning whilst my tablets are taking effect before I can have my breakfast. :-)
As I say probably not the sort of series you mean but I love it. :-)

Half way through it. Some of the characters in this are exceptional - dark humour at it's best.
