TV Series

I watched the first half of the first ep of Battlestar and thought it was horrible.
It did put me off that there was a whole prequel mini series and a 2 episode 3 hour piolet that was prequel to even that.
I didn't know where to start and it just did my head in so I turned it off.

I watched the first ep of Banshee and it seemed ok. Liked the oral sex scene - obviously.

Ended up watching the first two eps of Dexter and that seemed ok.
To be honest, most things just seem to pale in comparison to Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones.

Just finished breaking bad (awsome show!)
Looking for something to watch next.

Looking at one of the following:-

Dexter - a bit put off this as I've recently finished Hanibal and I can imagine this having a similar feel to it.
Banshe - noticed a few mention it on here but the review scores weren't as favourable as other shows.
Battle star Galactica. Not a huge fan of sci-fi shows but if its good ill try anything.
Band of brothers - don't really fancy period progs.

Like I said above, I don't fancy any period stuff.

Anyone comment on the above or recommend anything?
I wouldn't call Band of Brothers a period programme. It's war! It's almost exclusively war with very little of anything else. Could be set at any time.

You wouldn't regret watching it, it's the best thing I've ever watched. When people have said on here that Breaking Bad is the best programme they've ever watched - after having watched BoB and The Pacific - it's almost laughable. For me, they shit all over anything ever done on tele.

There's a third series coming out at some point in the future too about the Battle of Britain, called Masters of the Air.

The Sopranos or Breaking Bad? firmly a Sopranos man couple of the lads look at me like ive got 6 heads when i say its better than BB.

I'd heard all the hype about Breaking Bad before watching it. My honest assessment is that because it wasn't on British tele it was overhyped as an underground sort of programme. It's good, but it's not that good.

Soprano's and Band of Brothers are the benchmark all other shows should aspire too IMO!

Not got round to watching Breaking Bad yet, may even give Game of Thrones a try - but i'm not into Lord of the Rings type fiction.

Of the other series i've loved - the Battlestar Galactica remake was really good, but lost it's way towards the end of the series, and I genuinely think they had no idea how to end it, which ultimately led to a disappointing ending.
Dexter - what can I say, love the show, only problem with it is that it is going to have to come to a conclusion!
Deadwood - another great series, great acting and great sets... and at only three series it didn't burn itself out, highly recommended.
For something different, Arrested Development is great, very funny and great cast.
And finally the series I'm watching right now on TV - The Returned... french supernatural thriller, brilliantly atmospheric, great acting and most importantly - a great story which is developing nicely.

If you think Game of thrones is like LOTR then you have not been paying attention.
