Oddly I thought that was one of the better ones, although that may have just been relief, seemed about 7/8 episodes too long for me.

Nope, it gets even more into the Louisiana-Southern US setting, if you can believe that. It was part of the charm for me.
I didn't have a problem understanding because I watched it with Italian subtitles on lol

I've been enjoying Ratched on Netflix.

It took a few episodes to to get use to the vibe as it's very odd and gory in some scenes but became enjoyable once the story line fully kicked in.

It is a decent series. but the pace and tone/style does not change. also does that thing two thirds in where it goes out its way to make sure it boggles your mind.

One series that I think is worth recommending here is Home, the British comedy, available on all4.

I really like it, nicely balanced. Witty and quick, but not forced comedy. Poignant a touch without feeling pretentious.
