TV Series

Sharp Objects was mustard. It is slow, but its all about the mood, the southern Gothic atmosphere - yeah there's a murder mystery going on, but its as much about Amy Adam's character, her past, her self harm and her state of mind - you have to approach it that way, as something to immerse yourself in, rather than just, 'show my the plot/what happen's next' etc.

Just watched the last Keeping Faith - talk about infuriating endings - ridiculous.
Sorry but that is absolute shit. The most smug thing I’ve ever seen (ohh look at me I’m being a bit edgy and out there) Fucking garbage.

Keeping Faith, shockingly bad. Dont bother. Slow, confused, up its own arse, illogical and plain daft. Felt like an extended 80s mtv music video with all the arty shots.

Er no. I just like stuff that doesn’t try too hard. This was a prime example of that, that miraculously managed to spin that self indulgent shit out for 8 episodes. Blue hammer85 shitting himself at the final credits was worth it though. Typical post 96er

I’m assuming you’re writing about Sharp Objects there, rather than my post? Anyway, apology accepted.

For me it’s all about how you approach a show & your expectations. For example I knew the book, and judging by the tone of what you’ve written I’m guessing you didn’t, so I knew to some degree what to expect. The way the director created a unsettled mood, an atmosphere of uncertainty, was really well done. Nice to see Zeppelin used too. I’ll also predict it will do well in the next round tv awards.
Smug tv series? The Office would have to be tops on that score for me.

Yeah, the mid-episode ‘music video’ interludes were def a bit jarring! And as for that final scene, arriving without explanation.....
I did stick with it though, so it must have had something.

Look. I get your point but you lost it when you used the office as a snide aside. It was way too long. Trying to be clever when we all knew what was going on. Could have been done on in two hours. Self indulgent shit.

Your snobbery proves that. We’ll done
