Two Games in 48 Hours

They're professional athletes and imo if not injured they should be able to play every day. We play WBA & Burnley who have much weaker squads than us and imo they're the teams who should be worrying about who's gunna play 2 games in 48 hours. That team you've put down to play Burnley is a joke and simply won't happen pure lack of respect towards Burnley who ain't all that bad of a side.

Hart

Zaba Demichelis Mangala Clichy

Navas Silva Fernandinho Yaya Nasri

Milner

For Burnley

Hart

Sagna Demichelis Mangala Kolarov

Navas Silva Fernando Yaya Nasri

Jovetic

Full backs & Fernandinho, Fernando like for like only and if Pellers is rite Jovetic back in.
They are professional athletes, but they are still human and you can't recover in 48 hours and if you work inside the recovery period it will be sub-maximal and there's an increased chance of injury.

Sorry mate but that's bollocks plus they do it every year.

I would rotate the Full backs, rotate Fernandinho/fernando and assuming we have s striker back rotate Milner/navas/lampard. No point in resting CB's, no point resting yaya for ACON and probably won't have any choice up front

What people seem to forget at Christmas is the opposition have done the same thing. I'd expect our players to be fresher than a Burnley side that are only capable of competing if everyone of them is at 110%.

City only played for 65 minutes yesterday, asides from the full backs the running was minimal for a PL game. Contrast that to a much smaller WBA squad, they will have been physically and mentally crushed after working their socks off for a late defeat. Much the same for Burnley.

Our players are running much less than the likes of Burnley. Our intesity levels can drop in games.

I'd be worried if we had Burnley and they'd not played for a week, but they'll have have 3 games in a week.

Slight rotation, and hours intesity and we'll be fine. It's much easier to play 5 games in two weeks if you're winning. You get a lot more tired losing.

To the guy suggesting we rest Hart. Come off it. The guys in the form of his life.

Joe Hart will get a rest against Sheffield Wednesday in the F. A cup .
We will have to do some rotation in both games . We did last season when we played Liverpool and Palace . From what I recall Boyata played against Palace .
He was right back that day .

It's fact as sports science is currently understood. They do it every year, and every year we get complaints from managers, rotation and daft results at Christmas as a result.

It is an endurance sport, it doesn't matter how much you get paid. They could play every day but they will get worse due to it and have to hold back more and more.

It's the same for everyone.

Of course it's not ideal for the players to play constantly over the Christmas period - but the point is that it's a busy time for the benefit of the fans, who are off work. There's not much left in football for the benefit of the fans after all.

It's not an endurance sport. It's a combination of sprinting and endurance.

If it was more endurance it would be easier and safer to recover from. But footballers will be putting high force through fatigued muscles = injury

Given our current injury list, and run of games, what teams would you put out in the next 2
Away at West Brom on Boxing day
Home to Burnley on 28th.

V West Brom I would play the same line up as we played V Palace

V Burnley it would be
-----------------------------Cabellero----------------------------

Sagna Boyata Mangala Clichy

Fernandinho Fernando

Milner Lampard Sinclair

Pozo (or Jovetic if he is fit enough)

I genuinely give up - let's swap 4 of our back 5. End of thread.
