The mature approach would've been no coppers and a club warning that a repeat of this behaviour would result in a lifetime ban, then slap the silly sods with a season long ban.
But no, the club does this performative shit because they're insecure, corporate to the core, have no understanding of the culture of the terraces and the reality of English football, and they're utterly detached from their match going fans beyond the boxes and the Tunnel Club.
The history of the club before the takeover clearly means nothing to them, 2008 was year zero.
Our owners are desperate for love and respect from the mainstream media and the "establishment" clubs, and although Khaldoon and the board know the score, they still seem surprised they don't get their flowers. They're so naive, they think throwing daft kids under the bus, racking up trophies, fighting their enemies in the courts, while simultaneously licking their arse, is going to get them accepted into the big boys club, it isn't.
This incident is small potatoes, but it has resonated in here coz it speaks to a deeper feeling of alienation between fans and the club.
Our owners know how to run a successful football operation, God bless em, but on a visceral level they don't have a clue what this football club is.
