Two minors suspended by club for offensive chanting at Brighton game | 17 year old charged by GMP (p29)

It's like 'points of view' has taken over the world.
We used to just laugh at the old fuddy duddy that could be arsed putting pen to paper because he saw a bra strap on songs of praise. Now they tweet it, get 10 thousand likes and before you know it Alan Titmarsh is cancelled. Services him right for having a comedy name, the ****.
To be fair, Titchmarsh should know better than to show his bra on Songs of Praise.

The mature approach would've been no coppers and a club warning that a repeat of this behaviour would result in a lifetime ban, then slap the silly sods with a season long ban.

But no, corporate to the core, the club does this performative shit, and why? Because they're pathetically insecure, they have no understanding of terrace culture, or the working class roots of English football or any understanding of the non-sanitized reality of the match day experience, they're utterly detached from the crowd, ignorant of anything beyond the corporate boxes and the Tunnel Club,

The history of the club before the takeover clearly means nothing to them, 2008 was year zero.

Our owners are desperate for love and respect from the mainstream media and the "establishment" clubs, and although Khaldoon and the board know the score, they still seem surprised they don't get their flowers. They're so naive, do they think throwing daft kids under the bus, racking up shiny trophies, fighting their enemies in the courts, while simultaneously licking their arse, is going to get them invited to the big boys club? Because it isn't.

This incident is small potatoes, but it has resonated in here because it speaks to a deeper feeling of alienation between fans and the club.

Our owners know how to run a successful football operation, God bless em, but on a visceral level they don't have a clue what this football club is.

Absolute top post. You have nailed it.

Goes hand in hand with no criticism or condemnation of the treatment of fans to / from the stadium in Istanbul by UEFA

It does.

If you look at the politics of football, we have no clout, no political capital, either in England or in Europe, and what you don't have you can't spend.

So we get buffeted by events, it's why so many blues get frustrated with the timidity of our PR department, we bend over under the slightest pressure. Just how weak do you have to be when the world's greatest manger has to suffer clickbait clown questions every week? When Spitty can trash the club, and trash the club again, confident he'll be scoffing vol-au-vents courtesy of media hospitality the next time he darkens our door?

Right now City is embroiled in a battle with the Premier League that'll go on for years. So it's just as well, what with CAS and being Champions an all, that the club's struggles with UEFA have calmed down a bit. But clearly we still don't feel up to admonishing them over the fan shit show in Istanbul. That might be because we're still in kiss and make up, or because the club genuinely don't give a monkey's nuts about us.

From the club's point of view, growing the fan base significantly in England is an uphill struggle. Of course you have to play in the English Premier League to get noticed, but England? What with millions of "istry" club legacy fans and a hostile media? There's only limited scope for growth. And City aren't in London, our match going fans are poorer and older than say Arsenal's and we don't have the well heeled day trippers to match Utd, yet.

So while we get over our present difficulties with the football establishment, our global fan base is where it's at for Soriano and Khaldoon.

So blues struggling in Istanbul and a couple dozy teenagers on the concourse, who gives a fuck about that? Trivial stuff on the road to global brand recognition.

Other posters have nailed what the hierarchy think, that's why I support the fans at ground zero and not what the club think or do.

When owners come and go there will always be us and I trust us not them.
