Two Year Academy Transfer Ban Imposed On City

First its fines and a wrist slap for anti doping violations and now this.

Whoever is responsible for either or both should be dismissed as far as I'm concerned as its a joke.

There can be no excuse for an operation as big as ours.

It's no use saying 'we reckon others are breaking the rules too, just getting away with it' - it may well be true, but it's an amateur retort. We have to look at ourselves, not other clubs and question how we are so easily caught out by these things. It's not the first issue we've had and whilst other major clubs have fallen foul of similar matters, that's no excuse either. Our prime concern should be to make damn sure it's not US. We've failed to do that.

Taken with the shockingly poor admin for the drug tests issue it looks like the the club is so focused on maximising commercial income that it's letting things slide on the footballing side. Senior management should be getting a rocket up their arses for this, not just the admin officers directly responsible for the errors.

I need to ask a daft question.

Will this affect us signing someone like Kyle Walker, as he was once at an English club's academy? Or does it only apply to current academy players?
No, it's only for players registered with a rival Premier League or EFL side in the preceding 18 months. I think (may be wrong) that we can still sign young lads as long as they're for the 1st team, not the academy. Either way Walker would be clear.

It is precisely because of the size of the club that these things happen.
Smaller organizations can be ruled from the top. When there are 600 employees that is dificult to do.
These are minor discretions and if the might of Gill UEFA and the fa can only find this then we are doing ok.

From top to bottom the whole organisation ( I am not excluding CIty) in this country is amateurish and has been since the game has been established . The rules that the FA have set can be easily exploited.

Without knowing the details there's no way to judge, it could be as simple as playing a rival club and someones parents asking how to get their kid in at our place, the parents are told to give us a call. Boom, you're knackered (unless the parents keep their mouths shut).

Of course we're still in the wrong as we have to abide by the rules but be under no allusions, there's no way that only us and the dippers are getting done.

1 : All other clubs are doing the same at their level - however they won't piss on each other's doorstep only ours

2: Liverpool were grassed up by the parents themselves because they renaged on a deal not another club grassing them up .

3: It's effectively a one years ban

4: Biggest impact will be on current under 14s and u15s. However for all we know club may already have this covered and have players already signed ready for next year... not sure of rules

5: it's is even harder to sign foreign players before the age of 16 - can't see too many extra coming in. UEFA/FIFA will be all over us

6: great chance for players to play up or on fringes to impress - hope they step up.

7: it's a storm in a teacup and will have little overall effect- we already have most of the best players.

8: the rules stink anyway. So long as compo is paid to clubs - especially lower league clubs so what . Parents and players should be allowed to play for and speak to whoever they want . Youth football in akin to serfdom and bonded education

9: while thing smacks of jealousy - remember the letter
