Txiki Begiristain to leave role at end of season

Seamless is holytic bullshit, we maybe the best run club but there will be a period when things change, maybe go wrong or have difficult periods, that's just how it goes.

Next summer 3 or 4 top signings could put us back at the top, but also another couple of bad signings could change all that.

Football goes in cycles we just need to work incredibly hard to maintain ours for a bit longer.
Fair enough but if transfer windows are being organised based on Peps contract, then whether we like it or not, that is having a huge detrimental effect on our club & shouldn't be allowed, no matter how brilliant Pep has been.

I think he has given us enough in the last 9 years to be given that, maybe the time has come to move on.

Regardless new signings and a rebuild will be an exciting new period and maybe even a new manager.

I'd love Pep to stay forever but obviously that aint happening, we can't allow it to cause issues though ( if it is), not even Pep has earned the right to walk away and leave us in the shit

He simply is not going to walk away and leave us in the shit, that's not happening.

He has always said once the players stop listening to him he is off, has that time come?

Some strange things at this time, Fodens form off a cliff, Grealish and this England situation, Ederson nearly leaving etc, hopefully nothing to do with the manager but it could also be the start of a little bit of dissent in the camp.

He's been brilliant for our club but the last few transfer windows have been dire.
Whether that's him falling asleep at the wheel or the entire club getting complacent ,i have no idea.

There has been chat that Pep has been insistent on not spending more - preference for small squad but also didn't want the club spending more money. If it's the case, our decision not to get another midfielder until Gundo became available looks like even worse mismanagement than initually thought.

I’m sorry but elite players will look at City and think the manager is likely to be gone in the Summer, the Director of football is defo going, and their opinion of 115 will be formed by most in the media reporting we are certain for relegation from 115.

Wages or not - no elite player is signing until all 3 matters are sorted.

If it’s a player coming from a much lower base they may take a chance, but not for elite players with similar options at other champs league clubs.
In your opinion of course.

There is not a manager/DOF in the history of the game that gets all transfer's right.

But the way this little fella has built this club up from top to bottom, changed our philosophy and we are at the stage where the amount of talent from bottom to top is incredible.

The Akanji transfer sums up this little fella 14m for a player 99% of us on here never knew who is was, he has gone onto be one of the best and most consistent defenders in Europe.

Add on the likes of Jesus, Zinchenko, Silvio, Alvarez etc etc and the amount of young kids he has brought to this club that again 99% on here don't even know about, yet will become mainstays of this club for the next decade.

Anyone slagging Txiki should be ashamed , cunts, you utter and total cunts.

And unlike these fukwits he doesn’t sack Pep after a few bad results.

I think there has been a conscious decision by the hierarchy to rein in the spending over the past couple of years, for whatever reason, which has meant we haven’t been in for the very best players, with the one exception being the signing of Gvardiol (who, last night apart, has been very good).

This has meant we’ve had to shop at a different and more difficult level, trying to buy players who aren’t obviously going to cut it at the club, and so our acquisitions have inevitably been more hit and miss. It’s worked for Akanji and arguably Doku, but not obviously Nunes and the less said about Phillips the better. Whereas if you go out and buy a prime Yaya Toure or De Bruyne, you don’t really have to worry about it.

There was an article in the FT in September where both Soriano and Khaldoon were quoted on the potential to continue our success without spending big on transfer fees. I remember feeling a bit queasy when I saw it, as it read very much like the typical ‘top of the cycle’ stuff you hear from lots of CEOs who’ve enjoyed a sustained run of success, and of course the article marks the point when things are just about to head south.

Personally I think the club has been overly confident in the ability of a core group of six or seven elite players on big contracts to keep the club at the highest level, which then allows them to buy lesser and cheaper players to supplement the squad. Some of this is down to bad luck in the form of Rodri’s injury which you couldn’t really predict, but other players in this elite core have suffered alarming dips in form and/or more persistent injury issues. Which in turn highlights the less than stellar transfer business of the past few transfer windows.

Needless to say this strategy has worked well for the club up until this season, but I think it’s becoming clear now that a larger revamp is required, with several players who were previously untouchable likely to be moved on and a new core being introduced into the team. Probably under a new manager as well, unfortunately.
