Txiki Begiristain to leave role at end of season

We does someone always have to get blamed?

Txiki?
Pep?

Both men together brought the golden age to city.

The Players needs replaced because that’s how football works.

These two are beyond reproach. Mistakes have happened and we have been slow in the market but ffs, what they have done for us is unbelievable.

Huge squad shake up needed. This is not a let’s blame the players either but they are the ones on the pitch fucking about. They received untold praise when doing well.

Footballers decline, get comfortable, couldn’t be arsed.

Most clubs sack managers at this point we sign ours up for 2 more seasons.

You only have to look at how much pep cares.
It is impossible for any club to win everything all the time in any league. The management team led by Khaldoon is probably the best football has ever seen anywhere. Sometimes even the best laid plans turn to shit. The sheer pressure of leading an organisation when they are being subject to a legal witchhunt is immense. The case with UEFA and the PL may not have affected the players but it must have sucked energy out of the senior executives who have so far shown incredible resilience. Anyone who has worked in any organisation under such relentless negative pressure will agree with this.

Was interested in who he actually brought in and who has been shipped out.
He said recently that winning the treble made his job infinitely harder as lots of players wanted more money or to leave.

That being said, we missed out on a fair few midfield targets and the ones we ended up with haven’t worked 100% as of yet.

Txiki has had a stellar career as a DoF. No one gets 100%of transfers correct.

Think we need to remember, first they didn't know which manager they were planning for, also they couldn't be sure which players had enough left to extend for another year or2 or to let go.I can see why they tried to get one more season out of the squad.

Not gonna say he downed tools because its clearly not the case, but he's quite obviously had at least 4 transfer windows to build on and he's fucked them all up. When we lost Vinny, we didn't get anyone in and we ended up being shit the next season when Liverpool won with ease. He pointed out post the treble season himself as being a failure in the transfer window, but this just proves there was a severe lack of foresight. It was obvious to everyone what was needed, you simply can't let Gundo, Mahrez and Laporte go and not have replacements ready. We basically scraped through last season, there were loads of red flags throughout the season and he just didn't act on them - that's his job. You can't expect as many injuries as we've had, it's pretty insane, but the squad building and allowing the age to get where it has without having players to slowly move in is evident. Hopefully Viana is a lot more proactive, something Txixi was famed for earlier on.

And, they didn’t know what kind of sanctions, and when, might be coming down the pike, as soon as the APT and 115 reared their ugly heads.

Even the “greatest ever” don’t win every time, but they’re remembered for the entire sweep of their history at the top, and even regarding things not publicly seen by those in the know.

….,that’s if desperate rags don’t pay a ransom for him :-)

You talk like he controls people and circumstance like some God on Olympus moving pieces on his chess board….without anyone moving the other pieces.

Also, he isn’t the owner, the Chairman or the CEO, he is an employee! Yes, an important one, but not an omnipotent one!

Any chance of you sharing which Club's you've been Director of Football at? Certainly there have been some mistakes like Phillips but Txiki and co have been working in a difficult evvironment.

Also, have you got contacts with the Agents of Musiala, Wirtz and Kvaratskhelia etc and has the legal charges affected our ability to recruit this calibre of player?

If we did recruit one or more of the above - what would Bobb's agent have thought and would they have been looking to go elsewhere. A few months ago Bobb was one of the most highly rated young players in Europe and coaches in Norway were saying he needs to move to get more game time,
