Txiki Begiristain to leave role at end of season

Any chance of you sharing which Club's you've been Director of Football at? Certainly there have been some mistakes like Phillips but Txiki and co have been working in a difficult evvironment.

Also, have you got contacts with the Agents of Musiala, Wirtz and Kvaratskhelia etc and has the legal charges affected our ability to recruit this calibre of player?

If we did recruit one or more of the above - what would Bobb's agent have thought and would they have been looking to go elsewhere. A few months ago Bobb was one of the most highly rated young players in Europe and coaches in Norway were saying he needs to move to get more game time,
I’m sorry but you can’t seriously use an example of not signing elite players because they want to keep Oscar Bobb happy !!! Ffs Txiki sold Cole Palmer ! Bobb might turn out to be a decent City player but he has never been one of the most highest rated players in Europe.

I doubt Bobb will be a regular when he gets fit - selling Palmer is the biggest fuck up of Txikis time at City - will go down as one of the biggest PL tfr fuck ups.

Bobb was / is very highly rated on the continent. He’s been playing well for Norway and City prior to his injury. So yes I can say giving Bobb a proper chance was a factor in City’s thinking. I would have still liked to see a replacement for Alaverz signed.

I’ve always rated Palmer and quizzed Bkues who thought we were making a killing getting £42mil for him at the time. However, opinions differ and it looked far more likely that Pep was going to give Bobb a run of first team starts and not Palmer.

You say you doubt Bobb will get a run of first team games when recovered but that was very likely the intention at the start of then season, before the leg break.

The reasons Palmer left have been done to death and I'm not arsed revisiting it but Bobb is a superior player.

I genuinely hope you are right but we have only seen glimpses of that talent as yet. He has a lot of work to do to be considered better than Palmer, currently.

Personally I would rather we had both of them.

Wonder if Palmer’s demands has anything to do with it - as has been mooted on here many times

Not saying he won’t end up being, but is he heckers like.

Bobb has made just two PL starts and two CL starts for City, we’ve seen sod all of the lad so far. Don’t know whether he’s going to be better than Cole Palmer or better than Vladimir Weiss at this point.

Nobody on here has any real clue what Palmers demands were.

What has been reported, to my knowledge, Palmer said he wanted to go on loan, Pep said
he wanted him to stay. Palmer said he was told he either stayed or got sold there was no option of a loan. Neither party to my knowledge has mentioned money.

If it was based on game time you can understand Palmers point especially with Doku coming in.

Txiki has come out and said the place needs a fresh set of eyes and energy. Our recruitment has not been the greatest, but we also don't know who we have tried to get and have been turned down. There are clubs who refuse to deal with is. I also feel some players maybe reluctant to commit with whats happening outside of football.

Lets hope the RAGs don't try and nick Viana now they have sacked Ashworth.

True, but what then if our sanction isn’t a fine but is a transfer ban?

Imagine if we have a two year transfer ban with the squad we’ve got now.
I seem to recall (might have dreamt it) that FIFA are the only ones who can impose a transfer ban. I stand to be corrected by more knowlegable folk on here, but I thinks thats the situation..
