Our frailties were exposed by Chelsea because we failed to address our very real defensive deficiencies in successive transfer windows. We should have had an adequate back up for Fern. As a result he has to play almost every game (well he can't now). Then there is our ageing fullbacks, and our purchase of Bravo, who is inspiring less and less confidence every week. Our seeming chasing of the Athletico central defender and Bonnucci were clear indications that we didn't have trust in Otamendi, but this should have been addressed long before now.
Our club is all about forward planning, playing the long game so that, in theory, when Pep arrived he would have the right mix of players. I can't see that this has happened, and in my opinion the buck has to stop with Txiki.
