Txiki Begiristain

You're the one being disingenuous by focusing on one transfer window and attempting to find the manager equally culpable for a recruitment failure that pre-dates his arrival by years. Pep may not have felt defensive signings were a top priority before he started working with the squad but I bet he sure as hell does now, and that's the whole point of having a DoF in place, so that you're not constantly having to rebuild the squad every time a new manager comes in.

Guardiola knew all about our squad before he arrived. Not only had he done extensive research on us before the 4 games we played against his Bayern side, but he'd been to see other games like our matches vs. Barcelona.

After that he had his backroom staff create dossiers on every single player at the club for him to go through before he arrived, and he was with most of them for 3 months before the window closed.

So he had loads of time to assess the quality and capabilities of the fullbacks and chose to reinforce other areas instead.

And so we're clear, on balance, this isn't about Txiki. This is about a bunch of pissed off idiots angry that City might not win the league wanting someone to blame. Hence why this thread explodes when we lose a game and disappears while we're winning.

Well, whatever the 'quality' of debate that this thread generates, that is (IMO) clearly the most factual thing I have read on this forum for some time.

I prediction I will make for this thread - 12 months from now people will be moaning on about:

a) Whomsoever the club has bought that has not been a major success - no matter how much they may have been sought after my top clubs at the time we signed them and

b) Whomsoever has made a good impression at any other club - bemoaning how Txiki was a fucking idiot for not signing them when they were available so cheaply. Of course, this will be notwithstanding that the same posters would not have actually been on the transfer thread in the summer suggesting such signings - oh no, why risk looking a pillock when you can just wait a few months and use hindsight to look like some kind of guru/oracle.

Of course if we are in the throes of steamrolling the league - all will be calm and positive.

I will just keep on putting trust in the owner, his chosen representative and the management team that he/they have chosen - I would otherwise be concerned that I was coming across a bit 'entitled'. Just my opinion.

The whole premise of "the mask slipped" is so fucking outrageous.

Why is it that Guardiola is the only manager who can't act differently in front of cameras and away from them?

Every other manager and that's said to be protecting the players or being dignified in defeat in front of the press.

But with Pep it's reported as if he's some sort of duplicitous snake.

There is now I feel a massive snide attempt to make him crack from some press and journalists. In all honesty this a definitive us against them scenario now and we as fans need to respond by showing the support he wants especially at home games....but saying that we aren't allowed too anyway because you get ejected and banned

thought i would come onto this page after a win so none can say knee jerk reaction, there is no point talking about pepe or peller's on here they both have their own pages, but bobby should be on here as it is a starting point. Agerro's goal was not the most exiting and enjoyable way to win the league it was probably the youngest side to ever win the top flight at 23 years and a couple of hundred days utd team of 92 was 24 and nearly 100 days, city were also one of the biggest and fastest due mainly their youth, this team should with a few additions have dominated the league for a decade, one of the reasons for bobby's sacking was not bringing enough youth through the academy, I am not going to say i did not agree with bobby's sacking only that this is the starting point
all signings can fail or succeed and price is usually the differences i do not blame trixi for them he is probably doing a great job behind the scenes and did a great job getting pepe , but it is the job of the director of football to maintain progression and he has failed in that during his time city have recorded the oldest team the second smallest and one of the slowest we have also seen not a single player come out of the youth to be a regular starter
trixi's failure shows more in the goalkeeping department than anywhere else it is not the players but the reasoning for them city went to spain for both to replace a homegrown player . spain a country with three top quality sides that do not respect the position italy have their no 1 germany have their no 1 england have their no 1 albeit on loan england also have the french chez belgium and spanish no1's pepe recently said alonso told him how often the ball was in the air but did not realise just how much trixi should have told him just how much, and so city have 2 small goalkeepers past their best that have cost us 25 million and are amongst the worst in the league
this is entirely down to the director of football l
