Txiki Begiristain

They`re not all facts. Some is just made up bollocks as I`ve just reminded of what a stupid part of a post he made.

Maybe but the snippets I have seen he seems to be making good points about bad planning etc and is getting shot down a bit. Couldn't agree more with his views on us wildly signing centre halves every season though.

No, the alternative is not to have so many in that position. That's my point.
2 or 3? Yes.
5 or 6? No.

We can only have what? 17 senior foriegn trained players we currently have 18 by my reckoning.

Yet, we're are still trying to add 3-5 more.

That leaves us with a surplus of senior internationals.
Who by all accounts we are struggling to shift.

That's my entire point. It's poor planning, poor squad management. That is Txiki's job.

If we miss out on say Sane and Stones because we can't shift Toure and Kolarov, is that good or bad planning? Who carries the can then?
That only came to be because we bought a lot of players around the same time, a time befoe Txiki even worked for the club.

You see it very differently to how I do mate.

I believe there's a succession plan in place whereby we let senior squad members see out their contracts ( in the event we can't shift them ) by which time hopefully we'll have academy players ready to fill their place.

When we signed Sagna this is the impression I got.

If on 4 or 5 year contracts, wouldn't we always have 4-6 approaching their last year in a 25 man squad assuming they didn't extend?

Some real nutcases in here..Always felt that we should have a technical director ie. Reschke at Bayern,to deal purely with negotiations..Txixi & Soriano to come in later in the financial aspects,to ease the workload..Txixi remains as sporting director..Without Txixi Pep would have never come here and bringing him might paper over his faults in the long-term..We've signed many average players over the past 3 years yes,but for the first time since 2011 i can see what the club is clearly trying to do recruitment wise and can't really fault it..Would've been more 'appealing' to have the 'mega' stars coming in to 'brag' to your mates about, sure as hell we would have signed Ibrahimovic & Mkhitaryan if Pellegrini was still here, but we've been down that route. All i want is a TEAM now, what we'll have from now on

Unconvinced for a few years? As he's only been with us for 3 I take it since the day he arrived then?

I've not been convinced since Pellegrini's second summer.
I don't think we've identified the right areas to improve.
I think over the last 2 to 3 seasons football has changed, a fast transitional counter attacking style has been out doing possession based teams.
We've tried a possession based game. I don't think it always suited our squad.

Well seeing this was your point it has a lot to do with you :
He did dreadful due diligence on Fernando and it cost us £12 million.

He was available for free, we signed him for £12 million. By all accounts Fernando himself was told if he didn't sign a contract extension Porto would freeze him out. Damaging his World Cup chances. Only for him not to be eligible to play for Portugal having represented Brazil.

This comes under the topic of due diligence.

No, if Sterling is on 5 years, the odds are, he will sign an extension or improved deal. His contract won't nevessarily end at the same time as say Delph who signed in the same summer.

This isn't my arguement by the way, it's being widely reported that we are struggling to get our targets due to existing players not willing to move on.

I agree and understand that the media are normally talking balls. But facts remain, if you're only allowed 17 players and you have 18 and you want 4 more, you have a problem.
