I know, people always pay to go up in a plane to just sit there and hovver, or the times when the military send planes up to do night manouvres over good ol' St.Helens. Look at the vid on 120-125 secs, it has a bit of company, probably just another plane though.

They are mainly spotted at night because its erm,dark. They have been spotted in daylight just like the one were the (i think) Russian
military had an encounter with. People use high intense night vision cameras in the daytime and that is how they're seen at night. Just like if you leave the light on when its very bright in the daytime, you sometimes don't notice that it's on.
