U17 Euro championship

The England players were mostly bigger, stronger, quicker & possibly for the most part more skillfull than their Dutch opponents. And had no fucking clue whatsoever how to play football.

If those players had been coached by the dutch, they would be tremendous, but they've not, so they just look like England. Even if they win the tournament, which they could do, they still have the same old headless chicken, lack of football intelligence flaws which will be exposed in the future. The dutch just pass & move & are so much more efficient & clever, even if not necessarily better players.

I don't know how a City player, who is coached to play pass & move football, would play in the middle of that lot today. If you pass the ball, you don't see it again for ten minutes, as they all just charge head first into the oppoition half & whack the ball.

Play for a one two with that lot & good luck getting the ball back. The only way to make an impression, would be to join in, beat as many men as you can &try to shoot. Fucking pathetic.

They all look as if they have a degree of talent, some perhaps a lot of talent, which makes it worse.

Anyone know how our u17's got on against Portugal? I believe Portugal had some very impressive players.

Just seen the other thread in General..... England 2-0 winners.

Very strange game, although prety typical of youth football. Portugal had the ball for the most of the game, looked technically excellent and moved the ball around nicely, but England beat them thanks to a long ball down the middle and a deflected shot after a nice slalloming run. England having only 2 shots on target and they both went in, with barely even any shots off target. Whereas Portugal hit the post 3 times and the England keeper made some good saves, but the Portuguese striker, Silva, looked pretty useless.

Lots of big, strong, quick english players who seemed to rely on powering through on their own, not much in the way of teamwork or interplay. Probably not that surprising that Portugal looked the more coordinated and like they knew what they were doing though, as I think 9 of the starting 11 play together for Benfica.

Englands standout player was probably the second goalscorer Roberts, who was one of the few england players to cope with Portugals pressing and showed some excellent close control for his goal. I'd imagine our U17's are a lot better than most on display for England here, or at least a lot more comfortable on the ball, but it's pretty clear that physicality played a large part in the coaches choice of players

Bloody hell, one of the scottish players has a full beard, I don't think I've seen 11 uglier people stood together either. They look to have about a 5 inch height advantage per player on the Dutch

The Dutch look typically excellent, Bergwijn (sp?) in particular looks really dangerous. Scotland look like Tony Pulis era Stoke, really dreadful long ball stuff
