U21 European Championship

There are enough quality young players though, I think, to create a decent full England side, in the coming years, joined up with the likes of Sterling etc.

A real star in the midfield is needed & that could possibly be Foden. We may even have one or two more at City, who reach that level in a few years.

But it will still depend on the manager ditching the donkeys, whoever they play for & picking the footballers & of course, being good enough to organise them.

Harwood-Bellis should be one of the centre backs, being looked at for U21's.

Undoubtedly,as i was watching the shambolic, disorganised, showing yesterday.....that very thought was in my mind. Not a prayer he would have done any worse, and its a safe bet he would have done far better.

The trouble is we have a manager picking players who are at a level he's never managed. Surely somebody like Eddie Howe ??if he would have taken the job as a stepping stone to national coach would have been ideal.

I assume because they are already playing enough football, with the senior team & would not welcome having their holidays shortened ?

Edit: I would actually go the other way, as in, if we have only got 3 or 4 players at U21 who are any good, in reality, pick the best from the U20s & U19s & play them too.
The problem with that, which by the way I totally agree with you, is they won't have a clue who's the better players
The England youth selection process is a joke, they pick players 90% of the time based on the club they play for, (not by actually scouting players) and the majority always seem to come from down south

The FA need to stop picking players based on their club side and actually go and scout players, just because a kid is at a City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc, doesn't meen there are not kids at other unfashionable clubs who are maybe better, Brighton and Blackburn for example both had decent seasons at u23 level with average age sides of about 19, but these lads are overlooked constantly
Blackburn for example beat Chelsea, Liverpool x2, Arsenal, City and Spurs at u23 level last season and I watched them against our 23s and they played some decent football, but no call ups for these lads at any level as they don't play for the big boys

If Wank biscuits gets a few tackles in for Utd, the media will demand he plays for England, even if he has a pass on him like Gerry Taggart. And they will highlight every slip by Walker etc, to press it until it happens. Just like the 'Rashford would have scored that' bollocks, with Sterling.

England managers, at each level, need to make it known what kind of team they are trying to build & the FA, to back them.

The fact Boothroyd is incharge of the U21s, suggests they are in no way 100% behind that plan.

He is probably telling them, right now, that it's the 'tippy tappy' he's been forced to play, that cost them the competition.

This Romania team look like they have some excellent young talent. Im presuming Hagi is some relation and you can see it in the way he plays. Also Puskas up front looks a real handfull. As with every game I’ve seen the defending at both ends is horrible.
