I don't really see a thread dedicated with the proposed UEFA Super League (almost closed league) in 2024. Since we have talked about it here, i will just give a little update here.

In France, PSG and Lyon are all for it, Marseille is contemplating their options (would be for it if they are invited) and the other clubs are against. LFP and FFF directors and president are against because they fear it would devalue the league, with clubs engaged in that Super League fielding weaker teams in national league. And, to be honest, the risk is real : it is easier to remain/access this Super League by getting to the top 5 of any group of 8 teams than from the national league. The only way to be invited to take the spots of relegated team from that Super League (8th of each group and the loser of the tie between 6th and 7th) is to be among the 4 semi finalists in Europa League and 4 champions in non disclosed leagues.

FFP2.0 was introduced to enable new owners to do what City were punished for, providing the business plan wasn’t deemed too risky. I’ll also add that there are other aspects to FFP that many are unaware of. One in particular will never affect City under our current ownership and that is that UEFA take a very dim view of clubs who don’t settle their bills with other clubs. They’ve banned a fair few clubs for that. You say it’s none of their business but stuff like that does need regulating. What shouldn’t be their business is stopping owners with sound business models investing in their clubs.

Yup, people are going with the narrative that UEFA easily punish the tiny clubs but don't dare to sanction PSG/City, which is wrong. They fail to realize that those small clubs are punished for their inability to pay their bills. Both PSG and City would have no problem to cover any expense if it were not for their discriminating rules in FFP (we could buy a player for 1 billion if the owner wanted to).

Regarding Milan AC, their owner has already said he will seek to struck a deal where they can have a longer delay to comply with FFP break even requirement. IF they are not allowed, they threaten to go all the way with legal actions.
I would say that it is great for PSG/City because Elliot (Milan AC owner) is known for being hellbent on legal actions if they see fit, no matter the opponent. So the risk is very real for UEFA and their FFP.

This whole FFP farce should have been challenged from the start. It wasn't because it suited the old elite to watch it stall us and cause endless damaging headlines, which are still going on. Now it is affecting a couple of them they don't like it. I hope someone takes them to court and smashes it to smithereens.

Yup, i heard about it in the newspapers.

Previously, they talked about an interest in Roma where they have already invested with Qatar Airways as the shirt major sponsor.

I don't know much more than you though.

I'm not specially fussed about it because their decision to invest in PSG/Paris/France is eminently political (geopolitical). They need France support, especially in those troubled times they are experiencing with their neighbours. PSG is just a small part of the deep investment and collaboration they have built with France.

Business wise and for further political goals, it could be good for them to own some clubs from Premier League (they have already deep relationship with UK) or even Roma (would be funny though since the Italian are kinda "xenophobic" against qataris since thay always have a comment about them when we face an italian team).

To be honest, i don't care too much about what they do though, i only care about my club. As long as they are not trying to fuck the club over (and they are not), they are doing their duty as an owner.

Much the same as I think about the City Football Group and our overseas links. I do like the connection we have with Girona though as potentially it could give young City players experience in a top league
