Having to hire the best lawyer in the business does set off a few alarm bells for me. If we’re so sure of our defence, why do we need a clever lawyer to present it?

However, let me just explain why I’m concerned. Reading the 2000 plus pages on here has given me the assurance that City are on safe grounds and will win the case. Ranging from, UEFA didn’t even look at our defence to proof that the Etihad sponsorship was clearly paid by the Executive Council from Abu Dhabi and not from our owners.


The lawyer we hired is famous for a technicality in fighting Brexit. So while I’m as concerned as everyone else here on the outcome, I’m merely questioning the need for this kind of approach for our case. Obviously I don’t want the shittiest lawyers but just asking why we really have to get the best at 20k if we’re sure of our case?

If you were phenomenally wealthy would it matter if you had to pay 10k a day or 15k or get the best for 20k? If we are proven correct in our case they will surely have to pay our costs anyway so bollocks to UEFA.. get the best and hopefully make ‘em pay.

There is no such thing as a sure thing with things like this so having the best there is gives us more security that we are cleared.

We had Aguero, Silva, De Bruyne, Sterling, Kompany, Fernandinho, Yaya under Pellegrini, perfectly fine right?

Or you go and hire Pep who's an absolute expert, top of his field and brings everything to a whole new level, brings more out of everything and finds advantages you didn't even know were possible.

No different here, you hire the guy who's top of his field, an expert on technicalities, can present your case in the best way and is an absolute expert in doing so and be able to present our case and evidence in the best light. Control the controllables, and hiring the best people is something we control and gives us the best chance. Whilst City has the strength of its conviction on the issue, it is judged by a third party and therefore it is perfectly valid for us to hire the best people possible to represent us.
