Just to add why I believe Soriano so strongly. The club waited several days before releasing his interview/statements, this wasn't some hot-headed reaction in the heat of the moment. If the club felt that the case could be interpreted somewhat ambiguously and could go either way they could still have released a bullish statement keeping the fans onside and optimistic without using such absolutist terms. One thing I know for a fact is that the people running City now are very smart operators, not because I have any "insider" connection but we've all seen the results of their work and can draw our conclusions. Their track record is what gives weight to their words and I await the CAS verdict with interest!

His script would’ve gone through loads of lawyers. That’s why it took so long.

It’s a pity one of our own in-house lawyers hadn’t been so equally considerate with his own communication. If he had’ve been we wouldn’t be in this mess to start with.

I really hope your right TH but dont forget in the first instance of FFP We were forced to reluctantly accept a reduced punishment.
Several people claimed we would get away with it and we didnt.

Nobody said we would get away with it as far as I can remember. Those with a fair bit of knowledge were saying we would fail the break-even requirement but adding back the contracts signed pre-June 2010 might see us home and dry. What they didn’t know at the time is that UEFA changed the toolkit right near the end of the monitoring period which completely fucked us over. It appears City made reference to this in a club statement issued in the wake of the 2014 settlement agreement when citing differences of opinion. To my knowledge, not a single journalist ever bothered to do any research into that comment and what it meant.

This is from The Fail...

UEFA also fined Man City 30 million euros (£25m) after an investigation that was sparked by leaked internal emails and documents. They showed that City overstated sponsorship revenue and masked the source of revenue from deals to tied to the club's owners in Abu Dhabi.

Leaked, not hacked eh?? Anything to make us guilty...gits...

Strange, word for word, exactly the same in the Independent. Someone copied the homework.

Probably because it didn't suit their narrative . Too busy reporting the fact that we had failed FFP and could therefore be punished.

The UEFA cartel members were appeased by the outcome.

Because a sports journalist looking for truths and finding hidden agendas has long gone.

Instead it’s about clicks and appealing to the masses because everything depends on advertising now. A story vindicating city would only have a very small audience whereas chucking us under a bus or ignoring it completely would appeal to all of the old top 4 and others with vested interests.

Time will tell if we’ve broken the rules. It’s hard for anyone to deny we’ve at least sailed close to the wind. With obvious allegiances I hope we do prevail and if we can sling some mud in the direction of a few others then all the better.

If we don’t win, and you can be certain UEFA haven’t gone for a law firm from Failsworth to represent them, then the mud is definitely going to stick for a long time, even if we take it to another court and eventually win there.

We were stupid to be so open in emails.

Finally, I hope our legal and internal media position isn’t being driven by the same guy (Simon Pearce) whose emails largely got us in this mess. If we are we’re seemingly massively compromised and that confidence could be hugely misplaced.
