I don't see what the problem is Oakie. City themselves have said the process has been curtailed. In other words, cut short and announced ahead of the originally appointed time. City also refer to a lack of due process and significant unresolved matters. So why have UEFA announced not? Why not resolve all outstanding issues and finish the investigation thoroughly?

The timing of the announcement can only be to cause damage to City. It coincides with the opening of the transfer window, and is two days prior to our final game of the season. They could easily have waited until next week to announce this. Instead, they have rushed it through, to cause us further damage. I wonder if Pep will come to understand our loathing of UEFA.
Or then again due to the "leaks" being made they had to wrap things up sooner than later. You only have to look at Citys statement. That tells us that they are far from happy not just with the decision but more importantly the alleged aggressive behaviour of the UEFA official.

Perhaps UEFA have put a statement out early in order to try and mitigate some of the damage done to them by the early leak?

They knew exactly what they were doing with the timing of the release. As I said this isn't just about FFP it is also about destroying our reputation and the credibility of our achievements. Whether we don't care or not they are doing a pretty good job so far, just have a discussion with any fan and this claptrap is all you get.
Yep, we are the Ben Johnson of football according to the media & other fans now

Question.

Why was it announced this Week, or was it just coincidence?
I think UEFA must have their own timeline. Their chamber probably meets at set times etc.

However, you wonder why and with what purpose people inside the investigation spoke to the media about this. Some are affiliated or have strong links to rival clubs and that could damages UEFA's case, hence City highlighting this. UEFA will have one internal timeline and objective, but are their participants acting in good faith and do they have other personal motives. Independent and fair? That already looks questionable as they have been feeding and speaking to journalists for months. "Don't worry, we'll get them", is the overall tone.

No point fellow Blues falling out.
Some think the club will stick it to Uefa & some think Uefa will get one over us again.
No one knows 100 % what's going to happen at this stage .
Personally, i hope we stick it right up Uefa but i fear the worst

No one knows but you are scared. Grow a pair.

Yes.

In it’s basic form City are accusing Leterme of running a Kangaroo Court.

Named and shamed. Heavy legal stuff.

The leaks to media over the last week are indicative of the process that has been overseen by Mr. Leterme.

By naming (and accusing) him it may make him concerned that we’ll be going after him in court.

City’s response is pretty emphatic in that we are effectively telling UEFA that your process is deeply flawed and we’ll see you in court.

The most interesting thing today though is UEFA’s statement referring to matters “that we’re made public in various media outlets”.

They are saying they had an investigation based entirely on the information in der Spiegel and elsewhere. Have they been provided with additional evidence? Do they have the emails that der Spiegel referred in their articles? If not then the whole process seems ridiculous.

I hadn't even sat down at my desk this morning before my Spurs supporting boss beamingly said 'have you seen the news? City are finally getting done for cheating, obviously not enough in the brown paper envelopes to buy someone'. In one snapshot, this is basically what the media and UEFA have put on us.

I expect us to allow due course to happen and whatever the outcome is, details will be sent out to prove how this is all absolute crap and we have been done over.

This is it in a nutshell. Forget fines and a ban if they happen, what they really wanted has worked, to discredit our success and reputation.

I think the AC Milan precedent is worth looking at.

UEFA imposed a 2 year ban last summer after Milan were found guilty for breaches of FFP in 2015 and 2017. They appealed to CAS and were able to participate in European football. At the same time, CAS ordered UEFA to find an alternative punishment. In December, UEFA revised the original 2 year ban, and gave Milan until June 2021 to comply with their ‘rules’ or face a one year ban. Milan then appealed this decision to CAS.

Now UEFA have referred Milan to the ‘chamber’ over breaches in 2016 and 2018. A decision on these alleged breaches is yet to be announced. I would imagine if Milan are found guilty they will go back to CAS again.

As you can see, these matters can drag on and on. Unfortunately, this may well be the path facing City.
