City’s response is pretty emphatic in that we are effectively telling UEFA that your process is deeply flawed and we’ll see you in court.

The most interesting thing today though is UEFA’s statement referring to matters “that we’re made public in various media outlets”.

They are saying they had an investigation based entirely on the information in der Spiegel and elsewhere. Have they been provided with additional evidence? Do they have the emails that der Spiegel referred in their articles? If not then the whole process seems ridiculous.

They just mean how the ban news was in the papers this week before UEFA had even confirmed anything.

So war it is......Finally. I've had a gutful of UEFA and those supposed historic "big" clubs and their entitled bullshit. Same with all the fuckhead fans of those clubs.

I've never read a club statement that emphatic, which basically reads as a fuck you to UEFA in legal terms.

Hope we go with both barrels at them from here.

How much of our statement is fact and how much is PR?

Knowing the people who run our club I would assume that lawyers would have certified the statement, I don't think we are the type of club to issue such a damming statement without concrete grounds to do so.

I think you are spot on this has been going on for a number of years and until now the club have been entirely "professional" about it unlike other parties. The only comment we have really made is the Chairman's " we took a pinch"

What a fucking mess this is. It was strange that it went so quiet with FPP between April and May only for us to win the league on Sunday and they come up with all this news on Monday already.

Manchester City Football Club is disappointed, but regrettably not surprised, by the sudden announcement of the referral to be made by the CFCB IC Chief Investigator Yves Leterme.

The leaks to media over the last week are indicative of the process that has been overseen by Mr. Leterme.

Manchester City is entirely confident of a positive outcome when the matter is considered by an independent judicial body.

The accusation of financial irregularities remains entirely false and the CFCB IC referral ignores a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence provided by Manchester City FC to the Chamber.

The decision contains mistakes, misinterpretations and confusions fundamentally borne out of a basic lack of due process and there remain significant unresolved matters raised by Manchester City FC as part of what the Club has found to be a wholly unsatisfactory, curtailed, and hostile process.
Good the time is now, to take this sham apart, we have the funds, the power and the owners to do it.... this must be done and done now, we have been mugged off and dragged through the shit to often and it starts with UEFA, the head of the snake, cut it off and watch the rest fall in line

Surprised the investigators leaked it to the press as it gives City an opening to attack not just the process but the motivation behind it. Should have kept it in house although the leak does reduce the chance for a negotiated settlement and make open conflict more likely which may have been the thinking behind the leak.

The ‘recommendation’ of a one year CL ban in the leak is also odd. One year is a blip. Three years would have been serious. One year sounds like chancing your arm on the punishment rather than bringing solid evidence for a more meaningful ban. Plus it’s going to get bartered down. You always build some ‘fat’ into the opening gambit.
Not really. One year is essentially a £90m fine.

I have to say I'm finding this whole thing a bit odd.

City are absolutely adamant that they've not done anything wrong, to the point where it's not even confidence as opposed to outright bullish certainty.

UEFA must know that City are going to take this to a court where there's legitimate independence eventually, and they're opening themselves up to damages, to publicly being slapped down and to further undermining of FFP if they carry on without a good case.

So what's going on? Either UEFA are doing something they know will get humiliatingly knocked down in a proper court, or the club's confidence is completely misplaced.
