Has anyone read up on the Portuguese guy behind football links? He’s clearly a hacker and I have no doubt he obtained information illegally but I think his intentions are good.

Through football leaks he has helped to highlight corruption, massive tax evasion and even Ronaldo’s rape scandal. We might get caught up in it but I don’t agree with those that think it’s all targeted against City.

Football is corrupt and it’s nice someone is highlighting that and personally I don’t think hacked emails should negate the actions of clubs. I’m no fan of FFP and think they should be scrapped. I don’t even know if what we have done is breaking the rules, but this guy shouldn’t be vilified just because the club we love has been caught up in it all.
You mean besides the successful theft of money from the Caymans bank and the attempted blackmail of clubs and agents?

Marvin, it still doesn't matter whether UEFA or someonelse hacked us. It is still not allowed in a court of law to use anything gained illegally. Therefore they are deemed to also have broken the law and are just as liable, as if they did it themselves. It is as I stated the fruit of the poisonous tree.
Yes it is. You need to stop repeating this falsehood.

But this is more complex. UEFA don’t have the hacked material so are basically making a decision based upon a third party account of hacked material - material that has been obtained for financial benefit! Hardly a credible basis for any conviction.
Uefa do have the hacked material. Der Spiegel passed everything over apparently. Not that it matters. City haven’t argued the veracity or the material, but the context and prepared a 100 page rebuttal and evidence.

His intentions at the outset were very clear indeed. Blackmail and extortion.

His whistleblowing aspirations only came to light when he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, no doubt advice from his lawyer so he didn't necessarily go to prison for a very long time. The amount of data he has stolen is staggering when you consider the alleged available resources at his disposal. You may ask if someone with such limited resources can do it why has it not been done before. Mostly because it is very very illegal and I suspect he has had a little help along the way. Lets see if the prospect of a long prison sentence loosens his tongue. I suspect he still thinks his backers are going to bail him out at some point and he walks away from this. I suspect not, then we may see a different attitude. At the moment he seems far too laissez faire for my liking.

Is it not the case in UK law thus inhibiting any Premier League action ? CAS obviously different laws.
I’m not remotely worried about the PL taking any action as the dates pertain to the period before PL FFP anyway as far as I’m aware. But you may we’ll be right although the PL wouldn’t be taking us to court and we’d appeal to CAS if we weren’t happy anyway.

I’m only talking about UEFA and CAS.

If that article in New Yorker magazine is correct (and it's likely to be well sourced) it seems clear that Pinto is motivated by old fashioned financial greed. As a Porto fanatic he also apparently has a grudge against Benfica and Sporting Lisbon. He reportedly got his hands on 70 million documents but it was Der Spiegel which selected City and PSG to investigate first.
