City have responded

Manchester City welcomes the opening of a formal UEFA investigation as an opportunity to bring to an end the speculation resulting from the illegal hacking and out of context publication of City emails.
The accusation of financial irregularities are entirely false. The Club’s published accounts are full and complete and a matter of legal and regulatory record.

This looks like a few words have been exchanged and UEFA have said, "Look we have to be seen to at least investigate it, but nothing will happen."

How do you know this? I fear they will use everything they can to nail us, including fake bent stolen emails. I’m really sick to the back teeth of having threats pointed at us day in day out.

Even if they dont use the fake emails, could they investigate our ongoing sponsorship agreements and player contracts to "nail us". If we were circumventing the rules, presumably we still are (to some extent)? If they simply close down these "loopholes" (if they genuinely exist) would that affect our ongoing ability to comply with FFP?

I’m more confident fuck all will happen ban wise after the club has made its statement. Not worried re any fine.

If someone offered us that now to get rid of the whole thing I'd take it. The cartel won't stop until we've been demoted and disqualified from European competition indefinitely.
We can't receive a transfer ban from UEFA, they're a competition organiser, nothing more. FIFA (barely) have the authority to issue a transfer ban and they washed their hands of anything to do with FFPR a long time ago.

Great, just as we’re forming the best team in Europe. It would be a disaster if we received a one year transfer ban.

Are these allegations legit? Why don’t we just follow the rules...

Aren't you the "worrying times" merchant ?.....

That's a remarkably firm statement, irrespective of the legal phrasing. Total rejection of any wrongdoing is normal enough, the addition of the line about legal and accounting record though is a hell of a shot across the bows - challenging UEFA head on.

I’m not sure why you think he’ll be able to take on UEFA. They’re a law unto themselves & I don’t think we’ve any chance of winning this battle. They want us out of Europe & they want the clubs with the global audiences to have a free run. We’re becoming too dangerous
He reckons we will,so I’ve every faith in the bloke.

I don't have much of an issue with Uefa formally investigating it, it's exactly what they should do to be honest.

What I think will happen though is they'll start investigating it, find out that all of the accusations are more concerned with our sponsors accounts rather than ours, of which they have absolutely no jurisdiction over, and then they'll end the investigation as quietly as possible.

And in the meantime all the damaging media headlines will have achieved their aim.

It's the right thing to do, I said it a while back -all these accusations that we're cooking our books are dragging a lot of third party organisations in.

Like I said I don't know for certain, but we follow the club, and I get the feeling everything at City is done above board, we're all sick of this but we must all turn up for Schalke and get behind the team. Some comments saying I won't give uefa a penny and not going to games hurts City and the team, let's get behind the team and show these bent bastards.

On the eve of an important League weekend & just b 4 the knockout game next week.

If I'm honest where there's money there's crime & both City & UEFA have been caught with there pants down.

I can see UEFA making these noises now & doing absolutely fuck all.

If anything it will be another fine & 12 month transfer ban

This will be completed in 3 months allowing City to appeal then smash the transfer market throwing 2 fingers at everyone.

I just can't see UEFA taking City on in court as to much baggage on both sides.

Can they throw City out of Europe????

Don't see this happening.

If I'm honest I would love to see our owner fuck them over but can only see us meeting them halfway.

If Something is going to happen & City will be ready with or without the ban.

Let's see what comes out of City.
