Rory Smith again

He's been a bit of a prick lately, but the top tweet is correct, and you can see it already in this thread, with people preferring to believe that the journalist is a lying hack rather than accept the idea UEFA might want to ban us (because that's so farfetched?!)

Us winning the title is obviously going to increase pressure on UEFA, Peter Moore was probably on the phone to them before Vinny had lifted the trophy off the podium.

It would have been shocking if our title win hadn't set off another string of enquiries into the ongoing FIFA, UEFA and Premier League investigations.

I find it very difficult to believe they would bar a club from one of the major European leagues. Firstly, the legal repercussions if they lose a case in court are too great and secondly the broadcasters and sponsors pay too much money to simply bar top players. A heavy fine and player limitations (i.e. 20 players only for Champions League) similar to 2014 is most likely.
Not a chance Khaldoon will accept that anyway.

I suspect this time it will be challenged in court by the club rather than simply an out of court settlement. If City were banned from the 2020-21 season but got to the final or even won it next season then it would put UEFA in a difficult position, particularly with broadcasters and sponsors.
They’ll never allow us to win it mate.

Isn’t this just the same old stuff.
They have some stolen e-mails making unsubstantiated allegations about where Etihad airlines got the money it used to meet its contractual obligations to City. UEFA could ask Etihad if they could take a quick squint at their accounts, but I think we know what the answer might be.
It is surely none of uefa’s business where a commercial entity gets its money from, especially as it was passed as ‘fair market value’ at the time.

Theyll do fcuk all they just want to keep discrediting all our achievements for ever more so this will drag out for ever more or until we drop to 6th!

Its a Narrative the history clubs want to keep going while we are ripping it up.

I know we don’t like it but The NY Times is not just going to publish something without credible sources involved.

Actually it should read 1 year MINIMUM. Might be more so it really reads.

Also, may not be next season so the author claims but start 20/21.

Also addressed the point why they don’t care how the emails were obtained, the same exact reasons I’ve thought we’d be punished no matter what “legal” arguments are made.

I know we don’t like it but a court battle I suspect will further drag the club’s reputation through the mud as we are widely seen as immoral by many average fans. Fair or not, it is a tool that can be used to hurt the club's growth and is what they will use to get us to submit.

I hate to make the comparison but legal racial segregation in the USA was not ended over legal reasoning. It was constitutionally and legally sound. It was ended based on “moral” grounds.

Whilst other clubs are guilty in various forms of “rigging” FFP none have yet been caught like we were and the moral police that are loud as hell won’t let us go unless something is “done” and we are made an example of.

Are all of us also against whistleblowers? The man who stole USA documents to show illegal activities by the US government (bombings) in Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia. Or Snowden exposing illegal spying by governments of their people. 100% illegal. Do we.all think they were wrong? I'm just asking.

UEFA are worried about their reputation if we escape over legal basis. I don't think they can affordnto back down. We already have a reputation problem and that is where they will go for us. FA might be put under pressure as well for points deduction, but I doubt that one.

Of course this has fuck all to do with football.

It's purely an assault on our finances. Deprive us of the CL money for a minimum of a year, unsettle any players who see CL as desirable hoping to provoke a fire-sale, reduce our sponsorship potential, smear the brand, smear our achievements, hope that a ban will see off Pep's tenure and all whilst attacking the rest of our business model.

We're approaching UEFA's endgame.
