The question on Coutinho has to be - did the media talk him up and up and inflate his value independently- or was it an orchestrated campaign by LFC - which the British media went along with. If LFC did orchestrate a campaign is that legal?

It would not especially have been in LFC's interests to make it more difficult to be able to cash in by seeking an over-inflated fee. Their win-win out come was to get the fee as high as it could go without reaching 'walk away' point. The media talking up his value doesn't necessarily allow you to do that.

On the other hand, it was absolutely in the interests of Coutinho's agent, he being on a percentage of the transfer fee, to talk up the value. And since he has numerous friends in the media, who look to him as being a valuable source of information, it might not have been hard to get them to talk up the player's value.

I suspect the media did talk up his value, but I would be surprised if the authors of that were LFC. I'd look elsewhere.

They shouldn't be answering ANY questions on the subject. Just state that the club has made their statement and Pep and the team are here for football matters not legal ones.

Agreed. Watched with almost disbelief as our PR guy (who seemed a little overawed) interrupted twice to warn him off but the journo still persisted and got his question in to which Pep responded. Why oh why do we not stand our ground and refuse to so-operate with them ?

Can somebody quickly summarise the thread so far for me?

Much appreciated...

That’s giving them FAR too much credit by comparison.

I said don’t abuse or threaten them, not make them out to be much more intelligent than they are. ;-)
They criticise Manchester City's owner and label fans as idiots duped by a powerful billionaire owner from the columns of newspapers owned by private individuals and corporations collectively worth billions.

"There are people – many of them adults – who deem those seeking to take over football at any cost more likely truth-tellers than an independent body of legal experts with access to relevant evidence. Such is football fandom and such is the loyalty that has been manipulated by multi-billionaires casting themselves as plucky outsiders. They are quite stupid, can you think of any FFP cases they've successfuly prosecuted without either a big reduction in punishment or it being dropped / overturned.

I can't. Maybe I am wrong (hopefully!). Or maybe part of their play was to hope for a one season ban by giving two.

The guy tried but he just ignored him and kept on asking, then Pep answered him. Now he should be banned as we have a legitimate reason to do so, he wouldn't comply with our requests.
Our press conferences have always been a complete joke, just an excuse for the twats to bait with stupid fucking questions. Pisses me right off.

Yes, that is the point we are making.

They are morons, ****s, shills, or all of the above.

We still should not abuse or threaten them as that is wrong and is also just giving them what they want, so let’s not allow ourselves to be manipulated in to doing their work for them.

I've just watched this and wish I hadn't. Security should be there to drag them out if they don't comply. The fucker was told at least twice not to ask the question but still asked it! What a fucking sleazball that cnunt is!

Also just watched and the big nosed ugly red cünt has wound me up no end. Not sure who I hate the most, him or Simon Jordan.

Again, you've been urging City fans to boycott the guardian but you're still reading it and promoting it on here.
