I have always assumed they added the extra year because we refused to admit we had done anything wrong and made it clear we would fight it? The extra year added so even if the sentence was halved on appeal they may get what they wanted?

That what I've been thinking about.

If the extra year was added on without good reason (I think I saw one of the WhatsApp group suggest it was for the 1st CAS appeal) then CAS will strip that off straight away and the starting point will be 1 year.

Has there been any indication what constituted our non-cooperation that added the extra year?
According to Rob Harris on APNews last year:-

Manchester City has not been cooperating with investigators and is facing a one-season ban from the Champions League for violating financial monitoring rules, a person familiar with the case told The Associated Press.

City released a statement Tuesday saying the club has provided “comprehensive proof” that it did not break financial regulations, but the person said the Champions League ban is being pursued by UEFA financial investigators, confirming a New York Times report. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the case is confidential and ongoing.

The person also said the Premier League champions have not been cooperating with the investigation when they have been asked about information in leaked documents.

That bit made me laugh.

There is no suggestion in fact that we have done anything other than totally comply with PL FFP ever since its inception. Any stories to the contrary and raising the prospects of "points deductions" or "stripping of titles " is simply click bait to appeal to the lowest common denominator of the general public.

Can we all stop wetting ourselves please. The only fight we have is against this uefa charade and I habe total faith in the people running our club and the public pronouncements they have made. IE: we have "irrefutable proof of our innocence". These are the same people who were told by the same media that it was impossible to build a title winning side from scratch when competing against United, Chelsea, arsenal (remember them?) and liverpool. They said players "wouldnt sign for city ". Until players signed for city.
They said "a collection of mercenaries wouldnt be able to see it through at the business end of the season against fergusons united". Until we did.
They said after Pep arrived " he won't be able to do it in england". Until he did it in england.
They said after peps first title "he wont be able to do it again". Until he did it again.

Remember the headlines during the months before pep came "pep chooses united", "pep chooses aresenal" , "pep eyeing up italy - Juventus keeping tabs". Until pep came to city.

Remember the headlines last week "pep off at the end of the season - activates break clause". Until pep, in what I consider one of the finest moments of his career, publicly stated in a press conference in front of them all that he was "staying at city unless they sack me". The next day they were STILL running the old line of "hes leaving in the summer".

Remember the press stating categorically that raheem was off to arsenal in a trade for Sanchez. Until raheem stayed here and had the best season of his life and Sanchez went to united at 29.5 on 600k a week for 4.5 years.

The british press are playing the age old game of 'throw enough shit and eventually some will stick and we can say "told you so"'.

Relax people. It wont be easy, there WILL be frustrations along the way but we have got this. You can take that to the bank.
Unfortunately, the bank that UEFA (and certain clubs) demand is the Standard Chartered Bank. However, there is no certainty where and whose account it may end up in.
One thing is certain, it won't be City's.

Pure speculation, but we might have told them they had no right to read our private in-house correspondence by whatever means they managed to get hold of it and we weren't prepared to discuss it - here are our full accounts, here's the confirmation from our sponsors that they paid the amount stated, where's your proof of wrongdoing?

I don't think it is an 'extra' year, from what ive seen, it is the default.

Admittedly, when it first came out, i felt the same as you about it.

Brilliant post well done mate

That is just outrageous rubbish. We were always going to be inside FFP limits until UEFA changed the rules in a new toolkit after our accounts were submitted and they couldn't be changed. If you can't see why that's relevant as the context for our current appeal you are a bonehead.
Ask Darren Fletcher - even he knows that.
Not so George I'm afraid. We were never go to be inside FFP limits. However we were planning to use wages paid in 2012 under pre-June 2010 contracts as mitigation, thereby avoiding sanctions. It was the relevant calculation of those which UEFA changed after it was too late.

but the mitigation clause put us outside sanctions until they changed the toolkit Colin?

And after we had sought clarification on this exact point

I assume the charge of not cooperating was refusing to sit down and discuss a settlement.
If that were the case it would be laughed out of court. More likely UEFA went on a fishing expedition and asked for all our emails.

UEFA are on the defensive and so they're leaking fake news, which the media are only too glad to run with, no questions asked. What passes for journalistic output these days is built on fact free, eye ball and click bait seeking bullshit. The mainstream media is a farce. UEFA know this and they take advantage. It sickens me.

@Prestwich_Blue any ideas re below?

Rodrigues also a ECJ judge? That doesn’t sound great. Why would he rule against us if there wasn’t good reason?

Some days I think we will win this easily the next I see something like this and have no idea again!
I think he could only make a decision on the evidence submitted by the investigation. If they omitted City's supporting evidence as City claim, then there is your answer.
