Two of us going from Stansted, Tuesday/Friday.
We're split on where to stay, mate wants Central Athens, I'd prefer Piraeus, mainly because I've read that the metro during weekdays stops service back to Athens not long after midnight.
I've read since that they'll be extra trains on the night of the match, but if we hear UEFA have anything to do with organising that, we'll be staying in Piraeus.

Quite a few staying in Pireus, from my research it seems the best option, 25-30 min walk from the stadium and cheaper than Athens. Easy access to Athens too by Metro for sightseeing, 5 day pass for less than a tenner.

Think we'll be going for staying in Piraeus on the night of the match at the very least.
Me and my lad are there for a week from the 10th, just need to find somewhere to watch the Burnley game. I say a week, we've not booked a return flight yet. Obv need to be back for the Newcastle game..!

For what it's worth, family members have informed me that they are certain that the Metro service will be extended after the game, it's usually the case when there is a big event on. This is Greece though, a decision probably won't be made public until a day before the game.

For digs, follow my recommendations earlier in the thread for central locations, or Piraeus is also an option for easy access to the stadium, not much by way of drinking and tourist options here though (stay by the main port or 2 marina areas if booking digs in Piraeus).

I’ve currently got free cancellation in both Piraeus and Monastiraki based on your advice. Thanks for all the info so far very helpful.
