Saw some people with Liverpool shirts attending the far right marches in some livestreams. There is no way these are the same people who are chanting Mo Salah lol
It's sickening to see the Daily Heil getting on its high horse about the riots, calling the rioters "shameless thugs", when they've done more than most to fan the flames over the last few years.Disgusted and shocked by these racist thugs, but also the right wing arseholes in the media, online (and some in politics) painting this as some kind of result of legitimate concerns... People who happily call for climate protestors to be locked up apparently not so concerned about people being held responsible for setting fire to police stations, looting shops and attacking people because of their race.
How is 20+ people surrounding and attacking one man going about their business, protesting the state of the country?Think this thread needs a new title. Many of these people are simply protesting about the state of the country and are Not far Right. The title of this thread is simply feeding the media agenda.
And debt repaymentThis is a really important question we rarely ask, mainly because we won’t like the answer, I suspect. Where you’re born is a lottery, and people might have a bit more empathy if they had actually lived in a country with a society so broken that even things like basic healthcare and social welfare simply don’t exist. I’ve never been to the Middle East so I can’t speak to the issues there, but I’ve spent enough time in Africa to know that, whilst many of the problems that continent faces are self-generated, at least as many are down to the colonial legacy of Western European powers and using the continent as a Cold War proxy battleground.
We've already got a thread about united. And debt repayment
An ex veteran i know moved into a nice new council flat 2 weeks ago. Got a shit load of vouchers to buy furniture and kitchen stuff. It's a lazy comparison and one I hear all the time. If it's not pensioners it's "veterans" and so the wheel turns. The idea is repeated over and over, gaining new traction: the assumption being that pensioners/veterans are being done out of something by "illegal immigrants."
After the shit that's gone on this week you'd have to be mad to want to emigrate here.
The scenes in Liverpool just looked like opportunistic scallies who saw a chance to loot and misbehave, rather than part of a wider movement, to me at least.
