Many people believed it was terror related by the reports coming from local witnesses saying he was shouting Allah Akbar and also reports of the **** being on the watch list. What I don’t get is they had already raided his house by time the declared it wasn’t terror related, they probably knew at the time it may have been. Hopefully the truth will be revealed during the court case.
You seem to know an awful lot!
Do you think a cop stuck his finger in some powder in his bedroom and said ‘yep that’s ricin sarge’
Or they cracked open his computer and went straight to a pdf file with the manual on it?
No, these things can take weeks. His computer or any one of his devices would’ve likely been full of all kinds of vile shit that need expertly going through.
In addition possession of these items requires no mens rea or intent -just possession whereas the crimes he committed require an intent of some kind that would fit the definition of terrorism. Nuance seems an old fashioned word in todays social media frenzy but that’s what it is.
At no point did the police say it wasn’t terror related-they were clear in saying ‘we are not treating it as terror at this time’-that’s an important difference-and as I’ve said numerous times here offences under TACT largely just give police more powers and time to investigate.
Despite these despicable, evil crimes he still has a presumption of innocence in law and we should all, inc the media, respect his right to a fair trial. Other things may indeed emerge, and likely will, but that’s for the police and cps and either way none of this justifies the conduct we all witnessed in the immediate aftermath.
Of course grifters like farage and Jenrick will seek political capital out of this.
