what would you like to say but can't for fear of being locked up ?

It's not about what I personally want to say but what I think should be legal to say within a democracy that values free speech.

Do I genuinely believe the attacker was called Ali Al Shakati and an asylum seeker? No I don't. Do I think you should be able to say it without getting arrested? 1 million percent.

Do I think you should be able to say 'who the fuck is Allah?' Don't think I've said that in my life but do I think religion is a crock of shit and you should be able to insult imaginary people? Yes I do.

Do I think you should be able to post images of men who appear to be Asian carrying knives saying 'coming to a town near you'? I might think it's crass and not something I personally need the freedom to post but do I think it should be a criminal offence? No I don't and I think it's shameful that we're sentencing people to two years in prison for it.


By no means am I free speech absolutist by the way. I think the case of Julie Sweeney is a good example of speech that should be criminalised (not 2 years in prison though!) but in Britain, we've had a tyrannical crackdown on speech that shames a lot of the values which we've previously stood for and while in the past, we've been a beacon around the world for free speech, we've now become an international embarrassment.

If you incite hate and violence by 'freedom of speech' online you deserve what you get imo, i have zero sympathy for any of those cunts that posted on social media the nights of the riots, sitting there giving away locations of Mosques and Hotels and stoking the flames further endangering the lives of innocents and even the Police. fuck every single one of them and well done to Starmer for not fucking around and quickly stamping the far right riots out.

I’m in agreement largely with you on this but the sentences being handed down are disproportionate in their length given the crime.

Like it or not politics is in play dealing with these individuals in the same way it was in dealing the the JFO lot who again, I didn’t agree with but whose sentences simply didn’t fit the alleged crime.

Some have to be made an example off - that's the reality, especially when nationwide riots were taking place.

But unfortunately, large parts of our state would rather lock up keyboard warriors than child abusers, knife criminals, and even killers.
