Uncut magazine - Top 500 albums of the 80's

Sulk by the Associates #75. Should of been in the top 20 for me. What a fantastic piece of music. And Strangeways here we come #69. Dear oh dear! Should be in the top 10 with the other 2 Smiths albums(get rid of Prince haha) I'm surprised at Double Fantasy by John lennon and Parasite #435 so low for such a brilliant piece. A few more I thought would be higher are Housemartins: London 0-4 Hull #412. Heaven 17: Penthouse and Pavement #423 Depeche Mode: Construction time again #494. All mega album's in my most humble of opinions. Two others which are not my bag, but I thought both would be a lot higher are INXS: Kick #411 and Def Leppard: Hysteria #494. But it's all subjective and everyone's got their own favourites. P.S None of the Jams 80s albums on(what I can see) No Sound affects, Dig the new breed or The gift.. how very odd. But like I said, all subjective. Each to their own.

You could ask every bluemoon member for a top 500 albums, not one list would be the same as another. This list is as relevant or pointless as any other list. It’s like we all like different things.

The good people of bluemoon have better taste, there would be differences obviously but the final result would be nowhere that poll. Its almost like they tried to make it nonsensical.

Not sure it was a poll think it was done by commitee and was a mish mash of peoples (music journalists ? ) favourites. Pretty meaningless, but no more than any album polls done on bluemoon really.
You say the people of bluemoon have better taste, I ‘d say the prominence of the Smiths and some other Manchester bands in bluemoon polls disprove that :)

I would say a mish mash of people's favorites is indeed a poll:-)

Do we know how this list was compiled?
It can't be based on sales or popularity because, and i'm not a fan, but Thriller at only No. 27 with ABC above it...please!

Also, as a Bunnymen fan growing up, to me, there is no way that Ocean Rain should be above Heaven Up Here or Crocodiles.
I agree but I'm happy there are 5 lps there. Pity they don't get the plaudits they deserve at times.

I'm still not over Bluemoon knocking Enjoy The Silence out of that last competition, without it ever getting beat.
