Undercover in the Police documentary

I'm sure the poor families of PC's Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone would appreciate that message.

Easy enough to type on the internet I suppose.

Dickheads in every job and every walk of life, Police are no exception. Met plenty gobshite Lawyers, teachers, doctors, mechanics, tradesmen you name it. Fuck, football is a prime example.

Likewise I've been to games and had my ear chewed off from coppers when I didn't think I was doing owt wrong, and had a laugh with others.

Their job is probably harder than I or you could imagine. And for what, respect? No, just constant scrutiny and hindsight brigade telling them exactly what they should have done/not done.

All that said, the panorama stuff is undoubtedly damning. It certainly paints a poor reflection. I do wonder how many of these undercover reporters are sent in to forces up and down the country though and we don't ever hear anything because basically there's little or no drama to report.
Wait for some under cover journalist to infiltrate the BBC with sly cameras.

Well put.

One day, just one day, you just might need a police officer.
That piece of shit Paul Massey wouldn’t have agreed with you until he was leaking his guts all over his drive. The poor little cherubs first phone call was to the cops. A rag twat as well.

As in all walks of life, there are good people and bad, and our interactions with them often colour our visions of who they are and what they’re like.

Most people try to be good people but circumstances can change that in an instant, sometimes for a short period and sometimes for a more lengthy period.

Some people handle things on a daily basis that most of us wouldn’t like to ever experience, and I’m sure it takes a toll.

Being a police officer takes a special kind of person. Maybe there aren’t as many of that kind of person as we’d like, but hopefully there are enough that we can have safe streets, honest law enforcement, and a justice system that serves society’s best interests.

The longer I live, the more I think the balance is currently suboptimal, but I hold out hope for my kids, and theirs, and…

My personal interactions with law enforcement have been positive, but I see and read enough to know that is far from everyone’s life experience.

As you know, “policing” in America recently took a very nasty turn. The next few months (years?) may change the perception of an entire generation of Americans, just as it’s harming my own fairly positive general perception.

Good luck to us all.

The problem with these under cover things is, they'll film hours and hours of footage on the off chance of getting something juicy then edit it all together as if it's the norm . If you do that in any organisation with thousands of employees you're gonna get some racist, homophobic, sexist knobs. Our kid's a postie and some years ago they did one about how they nick mail and chuck fragile parcels around, he said in real life it's fuck all like that.

Have you watched it? The sergeant is a vile human and I really doubt it took hours of filming to catch him out.

There are other police officers filmed, that are blatant racists. It doesn’t matter if they only say it after a pint. You know he’s a disgusting racist sober as well.

I watched the documentary and just find it very sad that so many careers have been ruined by entrapment. Politicians ram it down our throats that we are a multi racial happy clappy Society with all is well in the world but in the real world, off camera, off record I didn’t here anything different than what is said on a daily basis. It always starts with I am not racist but…just in the real world, reality is reflected in the numbers that are happy to vote for Reform. It’s a bit like in past elections people were embarrassed to say they voted for those nasty Tories or Brexit in fear of the grief they got for it off the moral high grounders.
