Underdogs for the title going by the media.

Dion Dublin sums it up best. Why people ask for opinions from dimwits like him makes you wonder:
Asked if Man Utd will win it. Answer "Yes. I've backed them to win it because it has been far too long, but also because the pressure is now on Louis van Gaal to win things and I think Wayne Rooney will be the man to deliver for him - United as a club thrive off pressure."

Not bothered in the slightest that pundits believe we will finish fourth, they are entitled to their opinion and as pointed out a lot of blues are concerned based on our pre-season form and transfer dealings.

I must admit I am unsure whether we are stronger or weaker this season. I think we have needed a player like Sterling for years but also think we will miss the flexibility and commitment of Milner and the 'heavy' goals of Dzeko. I do think Arsenal will be closer this year and without knowing much, or how Depay will adapt or the fitness of Scweinsteiger it is difficult to predict whether United will be stronger or not. I think top three but think the margins will be that close, a key injury, loss of form of a key player could shift the balance of who finishes where.

The only people who backed us to win the league believed that we would yet make two signings who would tip things in our favour.

Does not really bother me what ex players or "experts" say. The thing that gets me however is they predict we will finish 4th and if we where to finish in 4th they would all be critiscing us saying we should be winning the title with the players we have etc. Does not make sense!

Its not difficult to see why the journos don't fancy us. Whilst accepting that pre season friendlies are all about fitness the teams still want to perform well and shipping 8 goals against decent teams doesn't promote the idea of a solid defense. The old maxim of forwards win you games but defenses win you leagues is a true one. City were unlucky when Delph had to go off against Madrid but Pellegrini made the wrong choice in not replacing him, like for like. Unfortunately he does not always make the right decisions when it comes to protecting the back 4 and we have seen too often how vulnerable our back line can be with players running at them. I still think we will do better than the rags but we need to ensure we concede less goals in order to have any chance of the title. At least the club now has 4 CBs who can play at this level they just have to be trained to play together and not go off on their own midfield charge. Then we need to ensure that the backs stop some of the crosses from the wings. So less gung ho and more controlled, a bit like arsenal last Sunday.

Here's all you need to know. I've done a quick Google search; "2013/14 Premier League prediction". As we all know that's the season we won the league for the second time. Here's the rather comical outcome:

Daily Mail

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...2013-14-preview-Sportsmail-experts-views.html

The Mail asked their 15 journalists who would win the title, here's how many backed each team -
Chelsea: 10
United: 2
City: 3
Arsenal: 0

(Only 20% of the Mail's "experts" had us to win the League, non of them had Liverpool who eventually finished second)

The Guardian

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/aug/16/premier-league-predictions-guardian-writers

Same as the Mail, the results this time -

Chelsea: 4
United: 2
City: 4
Arsenal: 0
Tottenham (yes, seriously): 1

Also, here are some hilarious predictions for "Best Signing of the Summer" -

"Ricky van Wolfswinkel is the bigger name, but Leroy Fer may adapt more easily to English football at Norwich."

"Nicolas Anelka. He's 34 now but he's looked sharp in pre-season, he's a free transfer and West Brom need a goalscorer without Romelu Lukaku and, probably, Peter Odemwingie."

"Roberto Soldado. The striker who can take Tottenham back into the Champions League and enhance André Villas-Boas's reputation in English football in the process."

BBC

http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/23001874

City 2nd, United 3rd, Spurs 4th... Need I go on?

----------------------------------------

The recurring theme is this, at the start of every season, no matter what we've achieved or who we sign, the red tops and even the BBC love to predict our downfall.

Despite finishing second last season and adding Sterling and possibly De Bruyne, they think Arsenal (only signed Cech) and United (replaced Van Persie, Di Maria and Falcao with Depay,
Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger, only have one senior striker, a goal keeper who wants to leave and the worst back 4 in the top 4) are both primed to rocket ahead of us in the league. How do they come to that conclusion? God only knows. If we finished 2nd last year with a poor Summer Window and Yaya going to AFCON, I have no idea how they can surpass us this year.

The moral of the story, the Media are a joke.

Got the little book free (Prem Guide) with The Sun and out of 20 reporters there are 6 that say we win the league cup,1 says the FA Cup,but not one pick us to win the Prem, laughable really,it's mainly Chelsea they pick but amazingly 2 of them go for the rags hahaha not a prayer
