Underdogs for the title going by the media.

I don't post much as I don't have much to say that isn't covered by you lot, but saying that .......This is the first time I've read an article online - don't read newspapers - that's actual pissed me off! What the hell are those idiots smoking???? Does the past four seasons count for nothing? I actually closed my laptop and walked away from that rag sucking, Chelski licking, Arse infested wankfest. Hope we smash the hell out of the damn league and make them eat their own biased shit!

Fucking cock wombles!

oh yeah forgot about the 'dipper loving' but they count for nothing these days.

Dion Dublin sums it up best. Why people ask for opinions from dimwits like him makes you wonder:
Asked if Man Utd will win it. Answer "Yes. I've backed them to win it because it has been far too long, but also because the pressure is now on Louis van Gaal to win things and I think Wayne Rooney will be the man to deliver for him - United as a club thrive off pressure."

By Dion Dublin's criteria then, perhaps it will be Sunderland who emerge as champions this season, given it was 1901 when they last won it.

I truly don't know if well win the league this year, but for the benefit of those pundits who are nailing their colours to the mast in August:

Silva will still create chances

Yaya will still perform in some games

Aguero will still bang in fifteen, twenty in the league

Even with a dodgy defence, which we've apparently had to two seasons now, we were good enough to win it or finish second consecutively for four seasons now. I

I don't really care what these guys say to be honest, even prefer being seen as the underdog, but to discount us from the top four is silly. Arsenal look good but have proven time and again they have no stamina for a title race. Chelsea, have they significantly improved? United are splashing the cash on midfielders but seems to be crying out for a centre back and a centre forward. Arguably were doing a similar thing but get slated for it, and even have the bonus of having experienced league winners in our squad.

So therefore what it boils down to at the end of the day is not expert or actual statistical analysis, but personal opinion influenced by personal feeling and hopes. Fine, go at it. When Ladbrokes offer me even 2/1 of us finishing inside the top 4 then I'll sit up and listen, but again then only to take advantage of their idiocy.

What we are seeing equates pretty much to the kubler-ross model of the five stages of grief:- denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance. Enjoy it blues, but have a bit of respect for the feelings of sky, dippers, rags, and talksport at this difficult time.

I'd much rather be an underdog than put on the pedestal that everyone wants to knock you down from. However, we all know these predictions are based on nothing more than favouritism and a wild stab in the dark.

We'll be in the running for the title whether KDB or Pogba are signed or not. Our squad is as good as anything else in the premier league and a bit of luck with injuries (for once) would see us through.

Its not difficult to see why the journos don't fancy us. Whilst accepting that pre season friendlies are all about fitness the teams still want to perform well and shipping 8 goals against decent teams doesn't promote the idea of a solid defense. The old maxim of forwards win you games but defenses win you leagues is a true one.

In recent seasons the team that has won the league has been the team that has scored the most goals rather than the team that has conceded least, last year being an exception.
Having said that I fully agree that we will struggle unless we tighten our defense and midfield over our preseason showings.
