I'm not sure the FA are calling the shots anymore. I think Sam's in a position of incredible strength and he strikes me as the sort of bloke to exploit that to the max.Won't be in the job long then.

But didn't the minister for sport threaten to cut the FA's public funding recently? They will need to flog as many shirts as possible. Football is secondary to them.

Time will tell, I guess, but Rooney's commercial appeal will be in decline now, anyway. Certainly among many united fans he's considered to be a busted flush. There are other players on the conveyer belt who are ready to replace him in terms of shirt sales, such as Rashford. I've made a prediction and I'm sticking to it. On the balance of probabilities, unless there is a discernible uplift in his form, I think Allardyce will exclude Rooney from his meaningful plans going forward. I may very well be wrong, of course. Martial cost £36 million basic which was routinely quoted in the media as the full amount. The add ons are 10 million Euros for scoring 25 goals for the rags, another 10 million for reaching 25 caps for France and yet another 10 million for being shortlisted (top 20 I believe) for the Ballon d'Or. Despite these figures being made public by Monaco most rags are still under the deluded belief that any add ons are payable only if he actually wins the Ballon d'Or and, they say, if he does win it he'll have been worth every penny.
That's pretty much as I remember it (slight difference over winning or being shortlisted for the Ballon d'Or), although I think the extras were in euros not sterling (and so will now cost more...).
At the moment, it's 35/36M, as he's no triggered the extra payments yet. to be fair, if he did win the Ballon d'Or, it probably would be worth another 10M.

OK, well that seems to show my theory up to be utter bollocks!
I hope you are right mate and the granny shagger (I believe is the correct name for him) scores fuck all and doesnt get picked, however, I just have a horrible feeling you arent, BFS has had no problem playing older players in club management, as long as it fits in with his plans.
