UNITED - Mourinho: "Only top clubs like us can place top bids like we did on Pogba"

Funny really, in the words of Ferguson only a couple of years ago after he dumped them - "It is disappointing. I don't think he showed us any respect at all, to be honest. I'm quite happy that if they footballers carry on that way, they're probably better doing it away from us."

And now they sign him back for £90M, how proud they should be.

Haha! Rooney 8/10!!!
What in? A contest of how many meat pies out of 10 he could eat in an hour?

You can see the work that's gone into this though. Injuries, age and lack of Pl experience have shaved a bit off our scores but not touched theirs.
I love all this complete and utter delusion.

I watched him in during the charity shield game and he was awful, not just in that game but games last season as well, it's actually shocking how much he has degraded.... at times he struggles to play a 5 yard pass.

IMO this deal is about showing that United are still at the top table. It may or may not prove to be a sporting triumph but they are definitely buying for the here and now. Continued failure to reach and progress in the champions league has a gradual effect, as the football world attunes to the new world powers.

Meanwhile, Mourinho continues to generate publicity at a rapid rate of knots. He has Liverpool and Arsenal fans bouncing already, insinuating that they cannot match United. It makes for interesting headlines but has nothing to do with anything other than a very short termist approach.

When you have a player who is as much the result of marketing as actual footballing ability, it's really no surprise he's ended up at the rags. Not world class, but desperately trying to tell the world they are. You could apply it equally to either of them.

Also note the £4.2m addons which were not added to the the transfer fee headlines like they were for "$t£rling", instead papers doing damage control for them saying it's created excitement and all that jazz... anyone who still believes there's no bias after seeing the difference when they sign the worlds most expensive player is blind.

no needed to thank me

Shirt sales for one, I'm pretty sure Adidas get a cut.

The more he's in the lime light, the more people talk about him/follow him on twatter the better it is for Adidas, this deal was a no-brainer for them considering they sponsor both player and the club.

Say a shirt is £50... 400,000 shirt sales would generate £20M in total, obviously deduct the percentages ADIDAS get and it'd work out less.... United will easily sell millions of shirts with POGBA on the back and already have been doing before he even put pen to paper, so Adidas would see that £20M return easily. I'm not sure what money they make from sponsoring Pogba himself but I can imagine every time his image is used, they make a fair amount, I'm sure the publicity he's getting world wide now would rack a few pennies in?
What I always wonder is what difference does the name on the back really make, isn't that just a sale that probably would have been coming in anyway from people who were already intending to buy a shirt? Or are they trying to tell us they will sell millions of extra shirts? People buying two shirts just for the name or neutral Pogba fans buying at full whack rather than getting a replica for a fraction? I don't buy it and I still say twitter interest is not money or an indication of incoming money... it's positive spin as a means of damage control.

Yeah, its bollocks. I really doubt some guy whos already got himself an ibrahimovic shirt is going to go out and get himself a pogba one too.
Then again, they're united fans so anything is possible

he has been utter rubbish for at least two whole seasons now.
he is at his most effective in games when screaming abuse at the ref,or trying to mark the ref out the game.
