Spent all that money, have got the most expensive player in the world doing his weekly impression of carlton palmer and a manager who has lost his mojo and what do you get??
Softarse spoilt fuckers. Enjoy.
He's spot on. The whole revenue generating machine relies on them having big names, fighting it out in the top 4 and being in the CL.I cant believe it, but ive found a rag who talks sense on there!
"
4/10 but it's what I expected. We don't build teams, we buy individuals and try and make them play together when many of them are incompatible and don't compliment each others play. "
Wasn't they reportedly talking to the spurs manager after they 'ahem' met pep in Paris? He's spot on. The whole revenue generating machine relies on them having big names, fighting it out in the top 4 and being in the CL.
If they don't achieve the first two objectives then they're reliant on buying players like Pogba. But how many like that will go there if they're not in with a chance of winning something meaningful?
Hence why they bought Schweinsteiger and Ibrahimovic. Two over—the—hill big names so they could try and convince themselves and other people that they're still relevant. And also why they hired someone like Mourinho. He'll guarantee exposure but he won't be building anything for the future. Nor was LVG ever likely to be able to do that.
The smart move would be to appoint a DoF and find a good younger coach like Pochettino, then be prepared to be out of the spotlight for a couple of seasons while building something formidable. But now they're trapped in a cycle of demanding instant success with high-profile managers and players and a scenario where the individual takes precedence over the team.
In the meantime us, Spurs and Liverpool have overtaken them.
