What a crap apology I'm sorry I got pictured, but I'm not bothered about being bladdered as my countries captain in my kit.
Surprised you would do it in front of your bosses and wouldn't go somewhere quiet with the London based players.
It sounds like they all had a drink in the hotel but Rooney didn't know his limits.

Does anyone seriously think shrek or the scum would be any less shit if he'd have had an early night instead of getting pissed?

Might have played better if he was pissed, they've tried long ball. Now they are experimenting with alcohol. Pep is years behind on this thinking, he isn't the visionary we thought he was.

I'm with you, for what they earn cutting out fags, booze and burgers for a few years is hardly a hardship for a professional athlete - or Rooney.
Funny that's it's usually the English players who can't make the 'sacrifice' and many of them never fulfill their early promise. England are pretty good at all levels until they get to the seniors, but nobody seems to make the correlation between fags, booze and diminishing talent. In typical fashion, Rooney goes on a bender, Mourinho blames the FA for not carrying out their duty of care to the impressionable youngster(!) and, in more shock revelations, current managers and ex players all come out and defend him. Only in England (and Scotland, Ireland and Wales, probably).

Yep its amazing how many pundits and ex players come out saying whats wrong with a player having few drinks its the english culture

I'm no admirer of Rooney or his "professionalism" but some of the media and public outrage would be more befitting of a serious criminal.

Just a washed-up footballer on the piss.

Yeah, funny, but not a lot more.

I'm more intrigued by the reporting, which is not hiding anything. That seems to me to be either directive from the dark lords of Salford to bring down Rooney's name, or the Sun feeling that someone else would publish if they didn't and that overrode their devotion to Salford.
Josie will be asked and will just waive it off as 'fine'.

Quite possibly, yes. The suits at the swamp would no doubt be glad to escape their contractual strait-jacket so a little destabilisation wouldn't go amiss.

Rooney's been a shit athlete for long enough and - if you want a real contrast - look at (spit) Fake Ronaldo. I'd be more impressed with the media if they hadn't been indulging the fcuker up until the point they all rounded on him. But pigs might fly.

Just reading on BBC sport that they are giving up hope of signing Messi, couldn't see him getting a game in front of Lingard or Young anyway.

There's two strands to this Shrek thing. Firstly it shows that his priority is not recovering from his injury and getting back to his best. Secondly he was still on England duty wearing an England shirt. It wouldn't be a problem if had just had a couple of drinks. You can tell from the pictures it clearly went beyond that, a line had been crossed and he was totally wasted.

There was a procession of Rags queuing up to defend him on Talkshite and 5live. I wonder how they would feel if he was getting plastered with a United tracksuit on in between two of their games?

I have that feeling also. Buts it what they do, make sure players are untouchable when they need them but when they want rid of, a hate campaign, smear and allow open season. They clearly want him and his crazy wages off their books
