Rag are on track to post record revenues this year after sales surged to almost £280m in the first-half. However, the strengthening US dollar has been blamed for net debt widening to more than £400m.
In the six months to 31 December 2016, the rags recorded total revenues of £278.1m, up from £257.4m the same period a year earlier. Broadcasting revenues of £52.5m for the second quarter helped to fuel the rise.
However, profit for the first-half declined by 20.8 per cent to £18.7m. Net debt also widened to £409.3m, compared with £322.1m during the six months to 31 December 2015.
Oh dear, what a shame, never mind
