How are they playing the charity shield?
Last I knew charity shield was between league champions and FA cup winners which they were neither, but you never know the FA may have changed the rules to say the holders have to play in it, wouldn't put it past them

Rooney is an arrogant out of touch fool if he can't move because he won't take a pay cut. He does not deserve 20k a week with his current standard let alone 300k.
Have to disagree mate. They gave him his contract. He has every right to sit on the bench and enjoy it.

The media are desperate for the rags to sign anybody then they can start the headlines off,

They've had these headlines drafted for probably twelve months - they'll be desperate to print them, expect the floodgates to open

He has the right to it sure, they gave it him. Performance wise though on a rough gauge he is barely worth 50p. I can see why he will sit it out tbh but it goes with the mentality of a bloke not arsed. If his wage demands are still high then people will call him out for being a bit of an arse. At 31 a lot of players still have a fair bit of desire, this chap wants to sit on his arse and just pocket the cash in his shameless style tracksuit :-D

It is a bit like an ex main news anchor strutting around like they are top dog. The reality is half the staff don't know them as that was 10 years ago when they were in their prime and all they do now is the midnight shift. This one is still on main news anchor wages though.

The headlines are there every close season. You could probably write the list of potential bullshit signings yourself, as the journalists just make it up anyway. Rodriguez, Bale, Ronaldo, Neymar......blah, blah, blah......

Arrogant maybe, fool no, the fools are the scum for giving him a lengthy 300k contract for nothing, he has won all the game has to offer pretty much, is wealthy beyond most people's dreams, so would you not sit on your arse for 1 year for about 12 million? so he is no fool

And the best bit is it was City that forced them to do it.

Thank god we didn't go in for him fully. Not only would it have been a full scale clusterfuck of a transfer but we would now be missing out on seeing an overweight, very limited ability footballer screwing them out of £300k/week.

Fair play to Rooney though. He completely owned Ferguson and proved beyond doubt that he, Wayne Rooney, is bigger than Manchester United.

Brilliant
