Arrogant maybe, fool no, the fools are the scum for giving him a lengthy 300k contract for nothing, he has won all the game has to offer pretty much, is wealthy beyond most people's dreams, so would you not sit on your arse for 1 year for about 12 million? so he is no fool
It depends how much he values his legacy tbh. He was already a very very rich man. Many utd fans are already luke warm with him. Him taking up a spot like that will rankle with them imo rather a lot. His conduct now could go a long way to more lucrative post playing career, or not; as it seems.
To not accept a large wage reduction to go down gracefully at stoke maybe would be imo foolish for how he will be looked at after he retires if he just sits on a bench. For outright cash then no it would be very wise.

I was alluding to their run of 25 games this season that got them from 6th to 6th, one of the best unbeaten runs in history by the way.
