I'm OK with Blind. He doesn't seem a bad sort. He is kind of frozen out though.
I,m more ok with Blind than mata.he looks a decent player/person.
Mata has started to do the paul scholes evil tackles which refs dont punish him for.i dont like that.
Also; you have to question the mans judgement. Leave chelski to join a manu in decline..?
Oh dear.

Mata has that knack of creating a chance or scoring a goal even if he is not in the game. Smalling is not perfect but he is a reliable stopper who does the basics of defending well. Jones is a permacrock.
I first noticed chris smallthing when Tevez turned him inside out, left him on his backside before scoring for us at Fulham.
Then he made the back pages with his "city will crack" announcement...which was not quite right..
Then he turned up at the etihad and got himself sent off in a derby game. with a wild reckless challenge that he didnt need to make

All things considered...Smalling is NOT a "reliable stopper who does the basics of defending well"
He is an over rated pussy boy prick who has never convinced me that he knows what a Centre half should do on a football field.

Smalling is a very lucky boy, the rags were looking for a Ferdinand replacement and he was being touted as could be great. Fact is once he signed for the rags then, England caps and media publicity followed rather than good performances and he is still touted as could be great. His performances don't reflect his position.

He's come a long way since Fulham and the red card in the derby was actually the making of him as he really stepped it up after that. Like I said he's far from perfect and I understand why some wouldn't rate him. But when you look around the league at the standard of defenders, it's simply far inferior to what it used to be a decade ago and am glad we have him.

So...

You want Messi who'll be 30 in June and Bale who will be 28 in July to join 'our' ageing squad just to keep up with a club because they are reportedly interested in signing a world class player?

Who would you leave out? Messi would demand a game, every game. Sane and Jesus alongside him with Aguero up front. An exciting front line indeed. This leaves Bale sitting on the bench with Sterling, DB and Silva. Oh wait, Aguero and Messi don't really go well together so Let's put Jesus up front and sell Aguero. Problem sorted. DB can replace him in the team. Bugger, now we still have Sterling, Spanish Dave and Bale on the bench. But Bale really has to play so let's do this...

The trouble with your nearly eloquent post is that you are playing fantasy football. We used to do the same years ago when we were a bit shit. I suspect you won't remember those days due to you not being a City fan but rather a fan of another club trying to play a crap game of "fishy fish fish".

I'm guessing Man United given your rather fanciful boasts in your profile.

Wrong on every aspect. Firstly it was slightly tongue in cheek in regards to specific names, although the sentiment is true of being completely fucked off by Utd constantly being linked to the biggest stars when we're not.

But, it's also true you can never have too many world class players, we play so many games we need a lot better than the likes of Delph, Navas and Fernando.

I don't think whether fans remember the days of losing to the likes of Stockport or not is relevant these days, the club has moved on and obviously we have as fans too. We're shopping at the top table now, and commercially we are light years ahead of where we were. We need to be engendering this ambition and standing in the media too, for commercial reasons that benefit the club. The sponsorship deals and exposure and more 'fans' willing to buy City merch in the Far East and US the better, it helps us generate more cash and prestige to grind those bastards at Trafford into the shit.

Nobody wants to see those wankers sign someone like Neymar because of football and financial reasons. We have to keep the fuckers down and if they're in for the very best players we have to outdo them.

Not sure what your point is about fanciful boasts, but I'm no rag, I despise them. I'd like to see City absolutely dominate, not merely compete.

Big blow for them Mata being out. He's a nice guy and had been back to his Chelsea form this season. Don't wish injury on anyone, this has dented their top 4 ambition no doubt though.

Maybe he/she is a young rag. Or an ignorant rag, but I'm repeating myself, to think they haven't made a living off of "cherry picking" domestic talent. Or they just believe the perpetual class of '92 b.s.

I think it was a valid point, to some extent. Whilst United have undoubtedly cherry picked domestic talent in the past (as indeed we have post 2008), there's been a limit to who they could actually get. Liverpool would never sell them a player, nor would we. They can't raid Chelsea either, whilst Arsenal and Spurs are now better than places to resist their advances.

It's a bit different to Germany, where Bayern are the dominant force to such an extent that they were able to take their closest rival's best players (as they did with Gotze, Lewandoski and Hummels).

Odd thing to say. Why do you care? They rarely actually get them, Pogba aside.

I think because the work put in behind the scenes and commercially at City to try and get us to a level of Bayern, Real, etc, whilst bearing fruit financially is stifled somewhat by the publicity and fawning of the rags constantly bigged up in the media.

From the average neutral fan, we don't get the level of respect and awe that we should - if we were linked with the world's biggest stars I believe it would help our image (even if we didn't get them), simply by being in people's mindset as a club that could in theory at least take Neymar from Barca if we wanted.
