United (A) - League Cup SF Post-Match Thread

Called it for second half took it easy instead of carrying on like first half, but I think we’ll do them at least 4 in the second leg,we are getting back to how we perform in games which is a good sign ..

Great first half and could and should have been in front by more.
Second half eased off and a piece of complacency gave them a chance to score.

This tie is far from over and we are not in the final yet

But after decembers shit show we are now last derby winners and so Manchester bragging rights are our again.

Also martin tyler is a bellend

Excellent first half, sloppy second. Love Sterling but was like playing with 10 men at times. Hope he gets his mojo back soon
He should have been off after 60 minutes with that performance and I am discounting the goal chances it was his overall effort or lack of it.

Poor 2nd half. Get the first goal in the 2nd leg and it should be plain sailing. We should have put that to bed tonight though, because they were terrible.

It's great to beat them 3-1 but I still feel disappointed. That tie was there for the taking and we really should have killed it.

Obviously it'll have to be the most comical of errors for us to blow the lead but it feels like an opportunity missed.

Had that been the league or a one off game then fair enough but we genuinely turned around when we were 3 on 3 at the edge of their box!

First half was as good as we’ve played all season.

Only really poor performer was Sterling who isn’t good enough to start in this side at the moment.

It's a good win.

It's also a massive opportunity missed.

There's only going to be so many derbies where we're this dominant. Pep isn't going to be around forever, United aren't going to be shit forever. This is the second time we have completely and utterly outclassed them in the first half, could have scored 5+ and then just stopped playing in the second half.

It's frustrating because as a fan, it makes me feel like Pep doesn't really give a shit about the derby, and the rivalry. I watched his Barcelona side school Madrid 5-0, 6-2 and I can 100% say they didn't pack it in at 3-0 like we just did there.

It also feeds in to the wider feeling that we just aren't a cut throat team. We don't make teams pay when we should. Today United were so shit it didn't matter, but Spurs, Norwich, Wolves took advantage of that leniency and it's cost us the league.

The fact that it's a 2 legged tie, and we've given away the chance to play some kids and rest players in the next leg makes it even worse, because god knows the schedule is hard enough already.

Please pep use this system more often, we looked fantastic
