United (A) - League Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

We were pretty good again last night. There was a spell from the 65-80 minutes where we had a few good counter attacking opportunities that we squandered and almost caused ourselves problems. I get the feeling that Sterling and even KDB are still only at 90%. Once they hit top form we may be unstoppable.

We’ve been very good against Arsenal, Chelsea and United away which suggests we are much more comfortable playing without the ball for spells than previously and less prone to counter attacks.

We were quite good at home to Newcastle, which suggests we may be solving the bus parking dilemma at home. If we keep doing that and limiting counters then we win the league.

Still feeling it from the celebrations last night what a win and performance. Rag already coming out they didn’t want to win it anyway. Hopefully we may have fans back in for the final would love another Wembley trip.

Early in the first half, Fern received the ball in our half with 3 or 4 rags around, with a simple change of body shape and the angle he let the ball hit his foot to move off, he just left them stranded, that's why he's so good at that role, you just don't get that with Rodri, and again, no hate on Rodri, he's just not built for that role.
Indeed I'm always much more relaxed with Fern dropping to the edge of the area when we're playing out from the back, never that confident of Roddersat the moment.
